Perspectives about occupational justice: can poverty and occupational deprivation influence child development? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
In this paper we will explore the concept of occupational justice, a term that describes a basic human right to have the opportunities and rights to participate in those activities and occupations that define us as individuals, family and community ...

Multidimensional OMICs reveal ARID1A orchestrated control of DNA damage, splicing, and cell cycle in normal‐like and malignant urothelial cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the frequently mutated chromatin remodeler ARID1A, a subunit of the SWI/SNF cBAF complex, results in less open chromatin, alternative splicing, and the failure to stop cells from progressing through the cell cycle after DNA damage in bladder (cancer) cells. Created in BioRender. Epigenetic regulators, such as the SWI/SNF complex, with important

Building Performance Simulations Can Inform IoT Privacy Leaks in Buildings [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
As IoT devices become cheaper, smaller, and more ubiquitously deployed, they can reveal more information than their intended design and threaten user privacy. Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ) sensors previously installed for energy savings and indoor health monitoring have emerged as an avenue to infer sensitive occupant information.

ShcD adaptor protein drives invasion of triple negative breast cancer cells by aberrant activation of EGFR signaling

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We identified adaptor protein ShcD as upregulated in triple‐negative breast cancer and found its expression to be correlated with reduced patient survival and increased invasion in cell models. Using a proteomic screen, we identified novel ShcD binding partners involved in EGFR signaling pathways.

The Attitude towards Vaccination of Health Sciences Students at a Spanish University Improved over the First 18 Months of the COVID-19 Pandemic

open access: yesVaccines, 2022
It is important to know the attitudes of students of health sciences (SHSs) towards vaccination since they will be tomorrow’s health professionals. Vaccination is a powerful tool in the fight against COVID-19.

Time Series Analysis Applied to Notifications of Work Accidents [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Time series analysis applied to occupational accident reports is a powerful tool for understanding the evolution of occupational accidents over time. It provides valuable information to make informed decisions. In this study, data from reports of work accidents collected from the MINISTRY OF LABOR AND EMPLOYMENT PROMOTION.

Detecting homologous recombination deficiency for breast cancer through integrative analysis of genomic data

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study develops a semi‐supervised classifier integrating multi‐genomic data (1404 training/5893 validation samples) to improve homologous recombination deficiency (HRD) detection in breast cancer. Our method demonstrates prognostic value and predicts chemotherapy/PARP inhibitor sensitivity in HRD+ tumours.

Dependence of Successful Airway Management in Neonatal Simulation Manikins on the Type of Supraglottic Airway Device and Providers’ Backgrounds

open access: yesChildren
Supraglottic airway devices such as laryngeal masks and i-gels are useful for airway management. The i-gel is a relatively new device that replaces the air-inflated cuff of the laryngeal mask with a gel-filled cuff.

Fitting a stochastic model of intensive care occupancy to noisy hospitalization time series during the COVID-19 pandemic [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
Intensive care occupancy is an important indicator of health care stress that has been used to guide policy decisions during the COVID-19 pandemic. Toward reliable decision-making as a pandemic progresses, estimating the rates at which patients are admitted to and discharged from hospitals and intensive care units (ICUs) is crucial.
