Synthetic Lethality of SHP2 and XIAP Suppresses Proliferation and Metastasis in KRAS‐mutant Nonsmall Cell Lung Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Embelin cotargets SHP2 to disrupt the SHP2/GRB2/SOS complex, inhibiting cancer‐related signaling pathways such as MAPK, (PI3K)/AKT pathway, and XIAP to induce apoptosis signaling pathway, respectively, leading to synthetic lethality in KRAS‐mutant NSCLC cells both in vivo and in vitro.

Radiosensitization of calreticulin‐overexpressing human glioma cell line by the polyphenolic acetate 7, 8‐diacetoxy‐4‐methylcoumarin

open access: yesCancer Reports, Volume 5, Issue 12, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Background Calreticulin (CRT), an endoplasmic reticulum–resident protein generally overexpressed in cancer cells, is associated with radiation resistance. CRT shows higher transacetylase activity, as shown by us earlier, in the presence of the polyphenolic acetates (like 7, 8‐diacetoxy‐4‐methylcoumarin, DAMC) and modifies the activity of a ...

Epidemiology of Cryptococcosis and Cryptococcal Meningitis in a large retrospective cohort of patients after solid organ transplantation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Background Cryptococcosis is the third most common invasive fungal infection in solid organ transplant (SOT) recipients. There are no nationally representative data describing the incidence, risk factors, and outcomes of cryptococcosis ...

Nanoenhanced‐Cuproptosis Results From the Synergy of Calcium Overload and GSH Depletion with the Increasing of Intracellular Ca/Mn/Cu Ions

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In this study, CaCO3/Mn/Cu@lip‐Apt release Mn*, Cu2+, and Ca2+ in cells. The high valence Mn ion in Mn* can effectively consume GSH, allowing more Cu2+ to participate in cuproptosis. This situation will induce the oligomerization of DLAT. The large accumulation of Ca2+ leads to intracellular calcium overload, resulting in metabolism disorders. Finally,

Maternal obesity and resistance to breast cancer treatments among offspring: Link to gut dysbiosis

open access: yesCancer Reports, Volume 5, Issue 12, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Background About 50 000 new cases of cancer in the United States are attributed to obesity. The adverse effects of obesity on breast cancer may be most profound when affecting the early development; that is, in the womb of a pregnant obese mother.

Survival tree and meld to predict long term survival in liver transplantation waiting list [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2008
Background: Many authors have described MELD as a predictor of short-term mortality in the liver transplantation waiting list. However MELD score accuracy to predict long term mortality has not been statistically evaluated. Objective: The aim of this study is to analyze the MELD score as well as other variables as a predictor of long-term mortality ...

ROS‐Activated Nanohydrogel Scaffolds with Multi‐Factors Controlled Release for Targeted Dual‐Lineage Repair of Osteochondral Defects

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ROS‐activated nanohydrogels composite bilayer scaffolds are rationally designed for targted dual‐lineage repair of osteochondral defects. The as‐prepared nanohydrogel scaffolds provided 3D culture and induced dual‐lineage differentiation of BMSCs in vitro, efficiently inhibited early‐stage inflammation by rapidly releasing DS and improved cartilage and
