Heat Affected Zone in Grinding Operations
1974The temperature rise, due to the passage of a grinding wheel, may have detrimental effects on the surface integrity of the outermost layers of the ground workpiece. In this contribution, a comparison has been made of various models, worked out for evaluating the heat affected zone.

Small Punch test for weld heat affected zones
Materials at High Temperatures, 2006AbstractSmall Punch tests (SPT) have been performed on four different zones of P91 welded joint, namely the base metal (BM), the weld metal (WM), the heat affected zone at base metal side (HAZ-BM) and the heat affected zone at weld metal side (HAZ-WM).

Heat affected zone cracking in cast inconel 718
Materials Characterization, 1992Abstract Electron beam welding parameters have been shown to influence heat-affected zone (HAZ) microfissuring behavior in cast Inconel 718 (Inconel is a trademark of INCO Alloys). Travel speed was shown to be the most significant factor in influencing HAZ cracking behavior by modifying the thermal gradient(s) and subsequently the stress state in the

Heat Affected Zone in the MEMS Wire Bonding
2009 International Conference on Measuring Technology and Mechatronics Automation, 2009In the wire bonding process of MEMS packaging, Heat Affect Zone (HAZ) is the important factor governing the loop profile of bonding. The height of loop is affected by the length of the HAZ. Factors governing the HAZ are studied. To investigate this relationship, the experiments were done for the various sizes of wire diameter and Free Air Ball (FAB ...

Crack Arrest Toughness of a Heat-Affected Zone Containing Local Brittle Zones
Journal of Offshore Mechanics and Arctic Engineering, 1996Abstract The awareness of the presence of local brittle zones (LBZs) in the heat-affected zone (HAZ) of welds has led to the requirements for minimum initiation (CTOD) toughness for the HAZ for critical applications (API RP 2Z, CSA S473).

Characteristics of GTA fusion zones and heat affected zones in superalloy 713C
Materials Science-Poland, 2012In this paper, metallographic examinations, characterising microstructural changes in the 713C superalloy subjected to remelting by GTA method, are presented. In the fusion zone, precipitation of M23C6 or M6C carbides based on chromium and molybdenum was observed.

Dispersoid-free zones in the heat-affected zone of aluminum alloy welds
Metallurgical and Materials Transactions A, 2000The local microstructure in the heat-affected zone 1 (HAZ1) of a laser beam-welded Al-Mg-Si-Cu aluminum alloy is investigated closely. Dispersoid-free zones (DFZs), where the dispersoids of the base material (BM) are dissolved, are found in the vicinity of the fusion line (FL).

Austenite Grain Growth Simulation in Welding Heat-Affected Zone
Materials Science Forum, 2018To predict austenite grain growth behavior in the heat-affected zone (HAZ) in low alloy steels, a new calculation model is proposed herein. This model mainly considers the solute-drag effect and pinning effect, which restrain the austenite grain growth. To calculate the solute-drag effect, the grain boundary concentration of each element is obtained by

Study in Simulated Heat-Affected Zone of Ship Steel
Advanced Materials Research, 2011The experiments were carried out upon the determination of simulated heat-affected zone continuous cooling transformation (SH-CCT) diagrams, the characteristics of microstructure and Vickers hardness of SH-CCT specimens, and impact toughness in simulated coarse grain heat-affected zone (CGHAZ) of ship steels under different heat input based on physical
