Vacuum energy in the presence of a magnetic string with delta function profile [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
We present a calculation of the ground state energy of massive spinor fields and massive scalar fields in the background of an inhomogeneous magnetic string with potential given by a delta function.

Serological Benefit of SARS‐CoV‐2 Vaccination Relative to Infection in Children With Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) are at risk of severe outcomes from SARS‐CoV‐2 (SCV2). In the post‐pandemic context, where most children have been infected with SCV2, there are limited data on whether vaccination remains beneficial in children with ALL.

Entropy Generation in MHD Flow of a Uniformly Stretched Vertical Permeable Surface under Oscillatory Suction Velocity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
This paper reports the analytical calculation of the entropy generation due to heat and mass transfer and fluid friction in steady state of a uniformly stretched vertical permeable surface with heat and mass diffusive walls, by solving analytically the ...

Thermal fluctuations correction to magnetization and specific heat of vortex solids in type II superconductors

open access: yes, 2001
A systematic calculation of magnetization and specific heat contributions due to fluctuations of vortex lattice in strongly type II superconductors to precision of 1% is presented.

Monte Carlo computation of pair correlations in excited nuclei [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
We present a novel quantum Monte Carlo method based on a path integral in Fock space, which allows to compute finite-temperature properties of a many-body nuclear system with a monopole pairing interaction in the canonical ensemble.

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Scaling Theory of Heat Transport in Quasi-1D Disordered Harmonic Chains

open access: yes, 2013
We introduce a variant of the Banded Random Matrix ensemble and show, using detailed numerical analysis and theoretical arguments, that the phonon heat current in disordered quasi-one-dimensional lattices obeys a one-parameter scaling law.

Multiple reflection expansion and heat kernel coefficients [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
We propose the multiple reflection expansion as a tool for the calculation of heat kernel coefficients. As an example, we give the coefficients for a sphere as a finite sum over reflections, obtaining as a byproduct a relation between the coefficients ...

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

AUTOTEM - Automated geometry meshing and heat conduction calculation [PDF]

open access: yes, 1971
Temperature distribution for an arbitrary irregular body is calculated by AUTOTEM, which generates required input data automatically by computer. Temperature distribution is calculated for a two-dimensional plane section in /x,y/ coordinates or for an ...
