TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

RaMBat: Accurate identification of medulloblastoma subtypes from diverse data sources with severe batch effects

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
To integrate multiple transcriptomics data with severe batch effects for identifying MB subtypes, we developed a novel and accurate computational method named RaMBat, which leveraged subtype‐specific gene expression ranking information instead of absolute gene expression levels to address batch effects of diverse data sources.

Research on mitigation strategies for axial heat conduction in cryogenic microchannel heat exchangers

open access: yesCase Studies in Thermal Engineering
The compact design of microchannel heat exchangers (MCHX) offers significant advantages for their utilization in cryogenic systems, but it is accompanied by serious axial heat conduction problems.

Fractional single-phase-lagging heat conduction model for describing anomalous diffusion

open access: yesPropulsion and Power Research, 2016
The fractional single-phase-lagging (FSPL) heat conduction model is obtained by combining scalar time fractional conservation equation to the single-phase-lagging (SPL) heat conduction model.

Identification of nonlinear heat conduction laws

open access: yes, 2014
We consider the identification of nonlinear heat conduction laws in stationary and instationary heat transfer problems. Only a single additional measurement of the temperature on a curve on the boundary is required to determine the unknown parameter ...

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

Homologous expression and purification of human HAX‐1 for structural studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This research protocol provides detailed instructions for cloning, expressing, and purifying large quantities of the intrinsically disordered human HAX‐1 protein, N‐terminally fused to a cleavable superfolder GFP, from mammalian cells. HAX‐1 is predicted to undergo posttranslational modifications and to interact with membranes, various cellular ...

ATG4B is required for mTORC1‐mediated anabolic activity and is associated with clinical outcomes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The relationship between anabolic and catabolic processes governing lung cancer cell growth is nuanced. We show that ATG4B, an autophagy regulator, is elevated in lung cancer and that high ATG4B is associated with worse patient outcomes. Targeting ATG4B in cells reduces growth, protein synthesis, and mTORC1 activity, demonstrating a new relationship ...

A Dimensionless Number for Evaluating the Influence of Heat Conduction in the Gas Phase on Liquid Evaporation

open access: yesEnergies
Heat conduction in the gas phase may influence liquid evaporation, yet a quantitative characterization of this effect still remains lacking. Here, through dimensionless analysis of the theoretical model for droplet evaporation, two limiting solutions ...
