Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Self-similar solutions of a multi-phase Stefan problem on the half-line
In this paper, we study self-similar solutions of the multiphase Stefan problem for the heat equation on the half-line x 0 with constant initial data and Dirichlet or Neumann boundary conditions. In the case of the Dirichlet boundary condition, we prove

Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Semilinear heat equation with singular terms
The main goal of this paper is to analyze the existence and nonexistence as well as the regularity of positive solutions for the following initial parabolic problem $$ \begin{cases} \partial_tu-\Delta u=\displaystyle\mu\frac{u}{|x|^{2}}+\frac{f}{u ...

Tables for solution of the heat-conduction equation with a time-dependent heating rate [PDF]
Tables are presented for the solution of the transient onedimensional heat flow in a solid body of constant material properties with the heating rate at one boundary dependent on time. These tables allow convenient and rapid estimation of the temperature

The Lightning Method for the Heat Equation
Abstract This paper introduces a new method for solving the planar heat equation based on the lightning method. The lightning method is a recent development in the numerical solution of linear PDEs which expresses solutions using sums of polynomials and rational functions, or more generally as sums of fundamental solutions. The method

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...
