Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Liquid-metal heat transfer in a cocurrent- flow, double-pipe heat exchanger is investigated [PDF]

open access: yes, 1969
Analysis of liquid-metal heat transfer in cocurrent-flow, double-pipe heat exchangers shows that heat-transfer coefficients depend upon the operating conditions of the heat exchanger and that use of the customary design equation to predict heat-exchanger

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Evaluation of the using Al2O3/EG and TiO2/EG nanofluids as coolants in the double-tube heat exchanger [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Advanced Design and Manufacturing Technology, 2012
: In this study, Al2O3/EG and TiO2/EG nanofluids as coolants have been used in the double-tube heat exchanger. The hot solvent inlet heat exchanger must be cooled down with a specified amount.

Variations of heat transfer mechanism and flow structure in a heat exchanger tube fitted with 30° inclined ring

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2020
Flow prediction, heat transfer pattern, and thermo-hydraulic efficiency in a heat exchanger tube fitted with vortex generator are chosen for the present research. The 30° inclined ring is opted to develop the performance of the heat exchanger tube.

A Novel Temperature vs Pessure drop Grid Diagram for Energy Saving in Heat Exchanger Network Retrofit

open access: yesChemical Engineering Transactions, 2022
Pressure drop in the heat exchanger is a key issue that should be considered in the HEN retrofit, as increasing the pressure of fluid can cost a substantial amount of energy. To accurately estimate the cost-related trade-off factors, the relative cost of

Heat exchanger [PDF]

open access: yes, 1978
A heat exchanger, as exemplified by a rocket combustion chamber, is constructed by stacking thin metal rings having microsized openings therein at selective locations to form cooling passages defined by an inner wall, an outer wall and fins.
