Differential Harnack inequalities for nonlinear heat equations with potentials under the Ricci flow

open access: yes, 2012
We prove several differential Harnack inequalities for positive solutions to nonlinear backward heat equations with different potentials coupled with the Ricci flow.

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

E2A selectively regulates TGF‐β–induced apoptosis in KRAS‐mutant non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Ability to induce apoptosis by TGF‐β is frequently lost in advanced lung adenocarcinoma despite intact TGF‐β signaling. We identify E2A as a mutant KRAS–dependent mediator of resistance to TGF‐β–induced apoptosis. TGF‐β induces E2A via SMAD3 in mutant KRAS cells, and E2A silencing restores apoptosis and enhances radiation response in cell lines ...

Heat transfer in a recirculation zone at steady-state and oscillating conditions - the back facing step test case [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Steady state and transient heat transfer is a very important aspect of any combustion process. To properly simulate gas to wall heat transfer in a turbulent flow, an accurate prediction of the flow and the thermal boundary layer is required.

Transcriptional profiling of circulating extracellular vesicles from prebiopsy prostate cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
RNA profiling of circulating extracellular vesicles (EVs) from blood samples of men undergoing prostate biopsy identifies transcripts associated with clinically significant prostate cancer. Integrative analysis with public tumor datasets links EV‐derived gene signatures to tumor stage and progression‐free survival, highlighting CASP3, XRCC2, and RIT1 ...

One-Dimensional Simulation of Synergistic Desulfurization and Denitrification Processes for Electrostatic Precipitators Based on a Fluid-Chemical Reaction Hybrid Model

open access: yesEnergies, 2018
Non-thermal plasma (NTP) technologies can be used to treat a variety of gaseous pollutants, and extensive research has been carried out worldwide because of its high purification efficiency, low dependence on temperature, and other advantages. NO and SO2

Experiments on transformation thermodynamics: Molding the flow of heat

open access: yes, 2013
It has recently been shown theoretically that the time-dependent heat conduction equation is form-invariant under curvilinear coordinate transformations.

Interaction of HS1BP3 with cortactin modulates TKS5 localisation, cell secretion and cancer malignancy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Here, we demonstrate that HS1BP3 interacts with Cortactin through a proline‐rich region (PRR3.1) and show that this interaction, and HS1BP3 itself, promote cancer cell proliferation and invasion. Inhibition of this interaction leads to build‐up of TKS5 in multivesicular endosomes and altered secretion of CD63 and CD9, providing an explanation for the ...

Thermal performance of automotive radiators made of plastic and stainless steel microtubes

open access: yesCase Studies in Thermal Engineering
The thermal performance of low-temperature radiators constructed from staggered banks of stainless steel microtubes (SST unit) and polymeric fibers (PF unit, polyamide 612) was investigated in air cross-flow conditions.

Analysis of the transient compressible vapor flow in heat pipe [PDF]

open access: yes
The transient compressible one-dimensional vapor flow dynamics in a heat pipe is modeled. The numerical results are obtained by using the implicit non-iterative Beam-Warming finite difference method. The model is tested for simulated heat pipe vapor flow
