Purification and characterization of a thermophilic NAD+‐dependent lactate dehydrogenase from Moorella thermoacetica

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The thermophilic acetogenic model organism Moorella thermoacetica can utilize lactate as substrate. The formation of lactate by reduction of pyruvate is energetically favorable, but the reverse reaction, the oxidation of lactate to pyruvate with NAD+ as electron acceptor is challenging.

Effect of thin-film sensors on local heat transfer in convective heat flux measurement

open access: yesCase Studies in Thermal Engineering, 2023
Thin-film heat flux sensors are usually attached to the interesting surface for the measurement of wall heat flux in the aerospace industry. However, the presence of the surface-mounted sensors may disturb the velocity and thermal boundary layer, alert ...

Effect of Inhomogeneous Heat Flow on the Enhancement of Heat Capacity in Helium-II by Counterflow near Tλ [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
In 2000 Harter et al. reported the first measurements of the enhancement of the heat capacity ΔCQ[equivalent]C(Q)-C(Q=0) of helium-II transporting a heat flux density Q near Tλ.

Pharmacological effects of osimertinib on a chicken chorioallantoic membrane xenograft model with the EGFR exon‐19‐deleted advanced NSCLC mutation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Osimertinib reduces angiogenesis and PDL1 expression in in ovo tumors, transforming them into ‘cold tumors’ with lower immune activity. Anatomopathological and transcriptomic analyses highlight its therapeutic impact on tumor biology. This study underscores osimertinib's potential to reshape the tumor microenvironment and provides insights into its ...

Identification of inhibitors of the Salmonella FraB deglycase, a drug target

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
A high‐throughput screen was used to identify inhibitors of Salmonella FraB, a drug target. Characterization of top hits (identified after an additional counter screen) revealed that some triazolidines, thiadiazolidines, and triazolothiadiazoles are mixed‐type inhibitors of FraB.

Flow Distribution Characteristics of Supercritical Hydrocarbon Fuel in Parallel Channels with Pyrolysis

open access: yesXibei Gongye Daxue Xuebao, 2019
Due to the asymmetric geometry of flowpath and combustion organization, the heat flux distribution on RBCC's walls are extremely non-uniform. With a validated numerical model considering the changes of thermophysical properties and chemical components ...

Compressibility and variable inertia effects on heat transfer in turbulent impinging jets [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
This article shows the importance of flow compressibility on the heat transfer in confined impinging jets, and how it is driven by both the Mach number and the wall heat-flux. Hence, we present a collection of cases at several Mach numbers with different heat-flux values applied at the impingement wall.
