Field measurement of U-value using multiple sensors at test chamber and EIFS building

open access: yesJournal of Asian Architecture and Building Engineering, 2019
The purpose of this study is to analyse the heat flux difference and examine applicability of the heat flux sensor along with various sensor attachment methods.

Heat flux calibration facility capable of SSME conditions [PDF]

open access: yes
There is a need to more thoroughly characterize the hostile space shuttle main engine (SSME) turbopump environment. It has been estimated that component surface heat flux in the hot-gas environment is about 10 MW/square meter, and this is about 50 times ...

Mass spectrometry based identification of AMP‐O‐Tris generated by Thermococcus onnurineus Cas10

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Isolated Thermococcus onnurineus Cas10 generates the noncanonical ATP‐derived product AMP‐O‐Tris while in Tris‐containing buffer as identified via mass spectrometry, revealing relaxed nucleophile selectivity under isolated conditions. These findings suggest that multiprotein Csm complex assembly restricts Cas10 reactivity toward canonical cyclic ...

Fabrication of Thin Film Heat Flux Sensors [PDF]

open access: yes
Prototype thin film heat flux sensors have been constructed and tested. The sensors can be applied to propulsion system materials and components. The sensors can provide steady state and fast transient heat flux information.

Conductivity Identification in the Heat Equation by the Heat Flux

open access: yesJournal of Mathematical Analysis and Applications, 1999
The author considers the problem of determining the thermal conductivity of a semi-infinite rod, given the temperature and heat flow at the endpoint. That is, given \(f\) on \([0,T[\) and \(g\) on \(]0,T[\), determine a positive continuous function \(\varphi\) on \([0,T[\) such that the problem \[ \begin{aligned} u_t(x,t)= \varphi(t)u_{xx} (x,t)\quad &\

Sudden anaerobization in Amphibacillus xylanus increases intracellular labile ferrous iron and inhibits cell growth

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Abruptly changing from aerobic to anaerobic conditions (sudden anaerobization) induced growth inhibition and a significant increase in intracellular labile ferrous iron in the aerotolerant anaerobe Amphibacillus xylanus. We found that free flavins mediate efficient electron transfer from NADH to ferric iron under anaerobic conditions, suggesting that ...

Non-contact heat flux measurement using a transparent sensor [PDF]

open access: yes
A working non-contact heat flux sensor was demonstrated using a transparent material (sapphire) and a multiwavelength pyrometer. The pyrometer is used to measure the temperatures of the two surfaces of the sensor from the spectrum of radiation ...

Lipopolysaccharide uptake is augmented in lipopolysaccharide‐tolerant mouse macrophage‐like cells via increased CD14 expression

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In normal (nontolerant) cells, CD14 is crucial for both LPS uptake and LPS signaling. In LPS‐tolerant cells, in which LPS‐induced TNF‐α and IFN‐β production is suppressed, there is a dramatic increase in surface CD14 expression. The overexpressed CD14 in LPS‐tolerant cells is responsible for the enhanced LPS uptake without inducing pro‐inflammatory ...

Cyclic azapeptide CD36 ligand attenuates cardiac injury and reduces long‐chain fatty acid accumulation after myocardial ischemia–reperfusion in mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In a murine model of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (MI/R), the CD36 azapeptide ligand MPE‐298 reduces cardiac injury and transiently lowers left ventricular long‐chain fatty acids (LCFAs) accumulation 3 h after reperfusion, accompanied by a decrease of oxidative stress and inflammation‐associated genes' expression in the heart and adipose tissue.

Method of predicting radiation heat transfer in turbine cooling test facilities [PDF]

open access: yes
A method is presented for calculating the average net radiation heat flux to turbine vanes and blades. The net radiation heat flux at a vane leading edge calculated by this method was compared with heat flux values independently determined from ...
