Influence of Heat Input on Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of Gas Tungsten Arc Welded HSLA S500MC Steel Joints

open access: yesMetals, 2022
High-strength low alloy (HSLA) S500MC steel is widely used for chassis components, structural parts, and pressure vessels. In this study, the effects of heat input during automatic gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW) on microstructure and mechanical ...

Laser Hardening Using Step Functional Heat Input

open access: yesBulletin of JSME, 1983
In this paper, a method of laser hardening is proposed, where CW CO2 laser beam is used as a step functional heat input instead of a moving heat source. This method is applied to the plane surfaces of cylinders as an example. The hardening process is analyzed theoretically using the theory of heat conduction and considering the following four important

Vortex-loop calculation of the specific heat of superfluid ^{4}He under pressure. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Vortex-loop renormalization is used to compute the specific heat of superfluid ^{4}He near the lambda point at various pressures up to 26 bars. The input parameters are the pressure dependence of T_{λ} and the superfluid density, which determine the ...

Conserved structural motifs in PAS, LOV, and CRY proteins regulate circadian rhythms and are therapeutic targets

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cryptochrome and PAS/LOV proteins play intricate roles in circadian clocks where they act as both sensors and mediators of protein–protein interactions. Their ubiquitous presence in signaling networks has positioned them as targets for small‐molecule therapeutics. This review provides a structural introduction to these protein families.

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Effect of CMT Welding Heat Input on Microstructure and Properties of 2A14 Aluminum Alloy Joint

open access: yesMetals, 2022
Cold metal transfer (CMT) welding is an attractive welding technology for thin sheet aluminum alloys because of its low heat input, arc stability and spatter-free behavior during the welding process.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.
