Shengmai San, a Chinese Herbal Medicine Protects Against Rat Heat Stroke by Reducing Inflammatory Cytokines and Nitric Oxide Formation

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacological Sciences, 2005
The aim of the present study was to ascertain whether the possible occurrence of overproduction of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS)-dependent nitric oxide (NO) in the brain and inflammatory cytokines in the peripheral blood exhibited during heat ...

The burden of heat-related stroke mortality under climate change scenarios in 22 East Asian cities

open access: yesEnvironment International, 2022
Background: Stroke is a leading cause of death and disability in East Asia. Owing to the aging population and high prevalence of stroke, East Asia might suffer a disproportionately heavy burden of stroke under the changing climate.

Safety and efficacy of cold‐water immersion in the treatment of older patients with heat stroke: a case series

open access: yesAcute Medicine & Surgery, 2021
Background Heat stroke treatment focuses on rapid cooling because symptom severity correlates with the duration of hyperthermia (i.e., time during which the core body temperature is sustained above the critical threshold).

Cyclic azapeptide CD36 ligand attenuates cardiac injury and reduces long‐chain fatty acid accumulation after myocardial ischemia–reperfusion in mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In a murine model of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (MI/R), the CD36 azapeptide ligand MPE‐298 reduces cardiac injury and transiently lowers left ventricular long‐chain fatty acids (LCFAs) accumulation 3 h after reperfusion, accompanied by a decrease of oxidative stress and inflammation‐associated genes' expression in the heart and adipose tissue.
