Spatio-temporal analysis of heating and cooling degree-days over Iran [PDF]

open access: yesStochastic Environmental Research and Risk Assessment, 2021
Abstract Climate change affects the energy demand in different sectors of the society. To investigate this possible impact, in this research, temporal trends and change points in heating degree-days (HDD), cooling degree-days (CDD), and their simultaneous combination (HDD+CDD) were analysed for a 60-year period (1960-2019) in Iran.

An optimized solar-air degree-day method to evaluate energy demand for poultry buildings in different climate zones [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers of Agricultural Science and Engineering, 2020
The degree-day method is widely used to determine energy consumption but cannot be directly applied to poultry buildings without improvements in its accuracy.

Climate-driven changes in CO2 emissions associated with residential heating and cooling demand by end-century in China

open access: yesEnvironmental Research Letters, 2019
Global climate change affects residential heating and cooling demand that further contributes to carbon dioxide (CO _2 ) emissions. The spatio-temporal changes in magnitude and distribution of the demands in China are poorly understood.

Analysis of the bioclimatic condition and require cooling and heating degree days in Islam Abade-Gharb City [PDF]

open access: yesنشریه جغرافیا و برنامه‌ریزی, 2017
One of the uses of climate in the environmental planning is recognizing the bioclimatic potentials of different regions. In this research, bioclimatic condition inIslam Abade-Gharb City analyzed based on monthly scale climatic data and bioclimatic ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Impact of the Degree Days of the Heating Period on Economically and Ecologically Optimal Thermal Insulation Thickness

open access: yesEnergies, 2020
The article proposes methods for determining the optimal thermal insulation thickness for economic and ecological reasons, depending on the number of degree days of the heating period. Life cycle assessment was used for the ecological analysis.

Septin 9 PB domains coordinate centrosome positioning and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Septin 9 polybasic domains couple phosphoinositide‐rich membrane binding to centrosome positioning, Golgi organization, and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity. Their loss disrupts this axis, causing centrosome mispositioning, Golgi fragmentation, reduced microtubule acetylation, and polarity inversion via upregulation of the ...
