A typical meteorological year for energy simulations in Hamilton, New Zealand [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Typical Meteorological Year (TMY) data is used extensively in building energy simulations and solar energy analysis. TMY data for New Zealand, however, is relatively limited and no such data existed for Hamilton.

Identifying transcription factors controlling the basal expression of human MRP4 highlights a substantial role for Sp1

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The MRP4 transporter exports several drugs and signaling molecules. Here, we identified key promoter elements regulating basal MRP4 expression. Using reporter assays, we defined a conserved region with essential Sp1 and contributory Ets sites, which controlled basal MRP4 expression.

Design and Numerical Study of Induction-Heating Graphitization Furnace Based on Graphene Coils

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Induction-heating graphitization furnaces are widely used to produce high-purity graphite products due to their high heating rate, high-limit temperatures, safety, cleanliness, and precise control. However, the existing induction-heating systems based on

Pharmacological inhibition of the PERK pathway modulates hepatocellular carcinoma growth and immune signaling

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Pharmacological inhibition of PERK in a DEN‐induced mouse model of liver cancer does not reduce tumor burden but alters cellular stress signaling. Despite blocking PERK activity, downstream stress responses, including CHOP expression, remain active, suggesting compensatory mechanisms within the unfolded protein response that may influence tumor ...

Energy Optimization for Transcritical CO2 Heat Pumps for Combined Heating and Cooling and Thermal Storage Applications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
A transcritical heat pump (THP) cycle using carbon dioxide (CO2) as the refrigerant is known to feature an excellent coefficient of performance (COP) as a thermodynamic system.

Optimizing microwave heating with slotted metal tubes for cylindrical loads

open access: yesCase Studies in Thermal Engineering
Cylindrical loads are commonly encountered in microwave heating and often suffer from uneven thermal distribution. Within certain radius and dielectric parameter ranges, cylindrical loads may exhibit central thermal focusing.
