Historical shifts, geographic biases, and biological constraints shape mammal species discovery

open access: yesJournal of Systematics and Evolution, EarlyView.
Taxonomic descriptions of mammals have become more robust from 1990 to 2025, with increased specimen sampling, broader comparisons, and more integrative methods. However, disparities remain: tropical and small‐bodied species are less comprehensively described, reflecting ongoing geographic and biological biases.

Wild boar feeding habits before versus after wolf recolonization

open access: yesJournal of Zoology, EarlyView.
By analyzing wild boar diet before and after wolf recolonization in a Mediterranean coastal area, we evaluated whether the return of wolves facilitated feeding on deer carcasses by wild boar. While deer hair was never reported in samples of wild boar feces in 1991–1994, we found it in c.

Hedgehog Pillows and Squirrel Plates: Priming Semantic Structure in Children's Comprehension

open access: yesLanguage Learning, EarlyView.
Abstract We report three expression–picture‐matching experiments targeting preschoolers’ semantic processing. We assessed whether 3‐ and 4‐year‐olds’ interpretations of ambiguous novel noun–noun combinations (e.g., hedgehog pillow) were affected by immediate language experience and what role lexical items played in this process.

Mandibular Condylar Cartilage in Development and Diseases: A PTHrP‐Centric View

open access: yesOrthodontics &Craniofacial Research, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The mandibular condylar cartilage (MCC) is a dual‐function component of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ), acting as both articular cartilage for jaw movement and growth cartilage for vertical growth of the mandibular condyle. Parathyroid hormone‐related protein (PTHrP) plays a critical role in orchestrating chondrogenesis in the long bone ...

Utilising Next‐Generation Sequencing to Explore the Molecular Etiology of Short Root Anomaly

open access: yesOrthodontics &Craniofacial Research, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Short Root Anomaly (SRA) is a genetic dental disorder affecting tooth root development. The affected teeth have abnormally short roots and significantly reduced root to crown ratios. The aim of this study was to determine the mode of inheritance and the molecular aetiology of SRA in identified Hispanic families.
