Doxycycline Induces Apoptosis and Inhibits Proliferation and Invasion of Human Cervical Carcinoma Stem Cells. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2015
Cancer stem cells (CSCs) are proposed to be responsible for high recurrence rate in cervical carcinoma. Reagents that can suppress the proliferation and differentiation of CSCs would provide new opportunities to fight against tumor recurrence ...

Poly A- Transcripts Expressed in HeLa Cells

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2008
Transcripts expressed in eukaryotes are classified as poly A+ transcripts or poly A- transcripts based on the presence or absence of the 3' poly A tail. Most transcripts identified so far are poly A+ transcripts, whereas the poly A- transcripts remain largely unknown. We developed the TRD (Total RNA Detection) system for transcript identification.

The E3 ubiquitin ligase, RNF219, suppresses CNOT6L expression to exhibit antiproliferative activity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We identified RNF219 as a CCR4‐NOT complex‐interacting E3 ubiquitin ligase that targets the CCR4‐NOT subunit CNOT6L for ubiquitination. RNF219 directly binds to the DUF3819 domain of CNOT1 through its putative α‐helix spanning amino acids 521–542. Our findings also suggest that antiproliferative activity of RNF219 is at least partially mediated by ...

Construction and functional characterization of human recombinant adenovirus rAd-IL-23R [PDF]

open access: yesJichu yixue yu linchuang, 2020
Objective To construct the human recombinant adenovirus expressing interleukin 23 receptor (rAd-IL-23R), and explore the effect of the rAd-IL-23R on the proliferation of human cervical cancer(HeLa) cell line. Methods Using the AdEasyTM system, the pAd-IL-

The cochaperone BAG3 promotes the stabilization of p53 under heat stress conditions

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Under heat stress, BAG3 translocates to the nucleus and forms a complex with Hsp70 and p53, thereby promoting p53 stabilization and enhancing its transcriptional activity. These findings suggest that BAG3 functions as a cochaperone that supports p53‐mediated stress responses in cooperation with Hsp70.

Optimizing A Lipocomplex-Based Gene Transfer Method into HeLa Cell Line [PDF]

open access: yesCell Journal, 2013
One of the most significant steps in gene expression studies is transferring genes into cell cultures. Despite there are different methods for gene delivery such as viral and non-viral producers, some cationic lipid reagents have recently developed to ...

Increased concentration of sialidases by HeLa cells might influence the cytotoxic ability of NK cells

open access: yesTaiwanese Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology, 2012
Objective: Cancer cells reportedly have the ability to escape from the immune system, mainly from natural killer (NK) cells. Although the real mechanisms are complicated, some inhibitors that are secreted from the cancer cells might play an important ...

Proteasome Inhibition Contributed to the Cytotoxicity of Arenobufagin after Its Binding with Na, K-ATPase in Human Cervical Carcinoma HeLa Cells. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2016
Although the possibility of developing cardiac steroids/cardiac glycosides as novel cancer therapeutic agents has been recognized, the mechanism of their anticancer activity is still not clear enough.

Immunocytochemical localization of galactosyltransferase in HeLa cells: codistribution with thiamine pyrophosphatase in trans-Golgi cisternae

open access: yesJournal of Cell Biology, 1982
An affinity-purified, monospecific rabbit antibody against soluble human milk galactosyltransferase was used to localize the enzyme in HeLa cells by immunofluorescence and by the protein A-gold technique at the electron microscope level.

BCS1L‐Associated Disease: 5′‐UTR Variant Shifts the Phenotype Towards Axonal Neuropathy

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives To investigate the consequences of a pathogenic missense variant (c.838C>T; p.L280F) and a 5′‐UTR regulatory variant (c.‐122G>T) in BCS1L on disease pathogenesis and to understand how regulatory variants influence disease severity and clinical presentation.
