Axial Performance of Helical Tapered Piles in Sand
Geotechnical and Geological Engineering, 2017The axial capacity of novel spun-cast ductile iron (SCDI) tapered pile fitted with a lower helical plate is investigated. Seven instrumented piles, five SCDI tapered and two steel straight shafts, were installed in sand soil using mechanical torque. The piles were tested under axial compressive loading and their ultimate capacities were determined.

Performance-Based Design Method for Multiple Helices of Helical Pile in Cohesionless Soil
Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board, 2022Multiple helices are being used frequently in helical pile applications nowadays. This paper presents multiple helices on simplified field design charts for small diameter helical piles that relate service compressive load and soil parameters as a group with the pile parameters.

Physical modelling of helical screw piles in sand
2010Empirical correlations between installation torque and uplift capacity of helical screw piles are frequently employed as a procedure for on site quality control of this type of foundation. In this work a theoretical relationship between uplift capacity and installation torque of deep helical screw piles in sand is proposed.

Performance of helical piles in oil sand
Canadian Geotechnical Journal, 2009The results of a comprehensive pile load-test program and observations from field monitoring of helical piles with either a single helix or double helixes installed in oil sand are presented in this paper. Eleven full-scale pile load tests were carried out including axial compression, uplift, and lateral load tests.

Lateral Performance of Large-Capacity Helical Piles
IFCEE 2015, 2015The lateral performance of large-capacity helical piles is of significant interest because they can offer an efficient alternative to conventional piling systems in many applications. This paper presents the results of two field lateral load tests conducted on 6.0 m and 9.0 m large-capacity helical piles installed in cohesive soil.

Lateral Performance of Helical Pile in Cohesionless Soil
2021Helical pile is one of the deep foundation system used to support the axial compression, axial tension, and lateral loading. Helical piles use as foundation for wind farms, transmission tower, pipelines, for underpinning, monopole, etc., as axial and lateral support.

Lateral Resistance of Helical Piles in Oil Sands
Contemporary Topics in Deep Foundations, 2009Although there are several methods available for estimating the axial capacities of helical piles, there is little literature available on the lateral performance of helical piles. The results of a lateral pile load test program and field monitoring of helical piles with either single or double helixes installed in oil sand soil are presented in this ...

Osterberg Cell Load Testing on Helical Piles
Geo-Frontiers 2011, 2011Helical piles are structural, deep foundation elements used as a means to transfer the applied axial and horizontal loads, and overturning moments from the superstructure to the soil substructure, within a specified criterion. The design process is complex and incorporates various degrees of uncertainties.

Helical Anchor Piles Under Lateral Loading
1984Anchors are used in civil engineering practice to provide resistance against uplift and overturning forces for structures such as transmission line towers, aircraft mooring, pipelines, offshore structures, mobile homes, and so forth. Although there are a wide variety of anchor types available, helical screw anchors, consisting of a steel shaft to which
