Numerical solutions of the three-dimensional magnetohydrodynamic alpha-model [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
We present direct numerical simulations and alpha-model simulations of four familiar three-dimensional magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) turbulence effects: selective decay, dynamic alignment, inverse cascade of magnetic helicity, and the helical dynamo effect ...

The role of histone modifications in transcription regulation upon DNA damage

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This review discusses the critical role of histone modifications in regulating gene expression during the DNA damage response (DDR). By modulating chromatin structure and recruiting repair factors, these post‐translational modifications fine‐tune transcriptional programmes to maintain genomic stability.

Experimental Modelling of Helical Piles Subjected to Axial Loading

open access: yesInternational Journal of Emerging Engineering and Technology, 2023
In the construction sector, axial loads have traditionally been supported by piles. There hasn't been sufficient comparative study related to the economics and viability aspects of conventional and helical piles up to this point in natural soil ...

Evolution of isolated turbulent trailing vortices [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
In this work, the temporal evolution of a low swirl-number turbulent Batchelor vortex is studied using pseudospectral direct numerical simulations. The solution of the governing equations in the vorticity-velocity form allows for accurate application of ...

Substrate specificity of Burkholderia pseudomallei multidrug transporters is influenced by the hydrophilic patch in the substrate‐binding pocket

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Multidrug transporters BpeB and BpeF from the Gram‐negative pathogen Burkholderia pseudomallei have a hydrophilic patch in their substrate‐binding pocket. Drug susceptibility tests and growth curve analyses using an Escherichia coli recombinant expression system revealed that the hydrophilic patches of BpeB and BpeF are involved in the substrate ...

Research on the Effect of Burial Depth on The Bearing Characteristics of Three Helical Piles Jacket Foundation for Offshore Wind Turbines

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2023
With global offshore wind power gradually moving to deep and distant waters, there is a clear trend towards larger-scale units, posing significant challenges for future offshore wind power foundations. In this paper, a helical pile jacket foundation type

WEBT multiwavelength monitoring and XMM-Newton observations of BL Lacertae in 2007-2008. Unveiling different emission components [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
In 2007-2008 we carried out a new multiwavelength campaign of the Whole Earth Blazar Telescope (WEBT) on BL Lacertae, involving three pointings by the XMM-Newton satellite, to study its emission properties.

Conserved structural motifs in PAS, LOV, and CRY proteins regulate circadian rhythms and are therapeutic targets

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cryptochrome and PAS/LOV proteins play intricate roles in circadian clocks where they act as both sensors and mediators of protein–protein interactions. Their ubiquitous presence in signaling networks has positioned them as targets for small‐molecule therapeutics. This review provides a structural introduction to these protein families.
