To study the pile-forming mechanism and bearing deformation characteristics of continuous flight auger (CFA) piles, a series of procedures, including helical drilling, pulling up/grouting, and inserting cage/pile forming, were simulated in clay-sand ...

Settlement based load capacity curve for single helix helical pile in c - ϕ soil
Helical piles are getting increasingly popular for lightweight engineering applications. Currently, the helical pile is mostly designed with torque capacity; however, it cannot explain the foundation's anticipated settlement.

Sustainable slow maintained pile load test [PDF]
Slow maintained load test is widely used by contractors in Malaysia to ensure the driven pile could accommodate the design load of the structure. Slow maintained load test is a test to determine load-settlement curve and pile capacity for a period of ...

On the emergence of helicity in rotating stratified turbulence [PDF]
We perform numerical simulations of decaying rotating stratified turbulence and show, in the Boussinesq framework, that helicity (velocity-vorticity correlation), as observed in super-cell storms and hurricanes, is spontaneously created due to an ...

Detection of extrachromosomal circular DNA (eccDNA) in plasma samples from EGFR‐mutated non‐small cell lung cancer patients. Plasma was collected before and during treatment with the EGFR‐tyrosine kinase inhibitor osimertinib. Plasma eccDNA was detected in all cancer samples, and the presence of the EGFR gene on eccDNA serves as a potential biomarker ...

Approximating Helical Pile Pullout Resistance Using Metaheuristic-Enabled Fuzzy Hybrids
Piles have paramount importance for various structural systems in a wide scope of civil and geotechnical engineering works. Accurately predicting the pullout resistance of piles is critical for the long-term structural resilience of civil infrastructures.

Revolving rivers in sandpiles: from continuous to intermittent flows
In a previous paper [Phys. Rev. Lett. 91, 014501 (2003)], the mechanism of "revolving rivers" for sandpile formation is reported: as a steady stream of dry sand is poured onto a horizontal surface, a pile forms which has a river of sand on one side owing

We show that the majority of the 18 analyzed recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming. The most potent mutations are activating, co‐operate with other ERBB receptors, and are sensitive to pan‐ERBB inhibitors. Activating ERBB4 mutations also promote therapy resistance in EGFR‐mutant lung cancer.

A Machine Learning-Based Approach for Predicting Installation Torque of Helical Piles from SPT Data
Helical piles are advantageous alternatives in constructions subjected to high tractions in their foundations, like transmission towers. Installation torque is a key parameter to define installation equipment and the final depth of the helical pile. This

Laboratory Investigation of the Behavior of Helical Piles under Monotonic Loading at Different Loading Speeds [PDF]
Today, one of the primary challenges faced by geotechnical engineers in dealing with problematic soils is to choose a suitable improvement method that, in addition to strengthening the soil, does not cause harmful damage to the environment. Helical piles
