Bay‐functionalized [7]Helicene Bilayer Nanographenes

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Bay‐functionalized [7]helical bilayer nanographenes are synthesized via a scalable, modular strategy enabling late‐stage diversification. Tailored methoxy, diketone, and phenazine substitutions precisely tune redox, photophysical, and chiroptical properties, delivering strong electronic circular dichroism and bright circularly polarized luminescence ...

Quantum Electrometry of Non‐Volatile Space Charges in Diamond

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Charges are generated when nitrogen vacancy qubits in diamond are illuminated by light. Transport and trapping in an electric field leads to the formation of large, stable space charge patterns that dynamically screen applied electric fields, impacting electric field sensing and photoelectric detection.

Physical modelling of helical pile anchors

International Journal of Physical Modelling in Geotechnics, 2007
Helical piles design is based usually on empirical correlations between the uplift capacity and the torque resistance of the pile during installation. A simplified theoretical relationship to predict the uplift capacity of deep helical piles in sand from the installation torque was reported.

Numerical study of single helical piles and helical pile groups under compressive loading in cohesive and cohesionless soils

Bulletin of Engineering Geology and the Environment, 2021
In recent years, the use of helical piles as a deep foundation option for structures has increased dramatically because they offer definite advantages over other solutions. The present study undertook a comprehensive investigation of the axial compressive behavior of helical piles in both sandy and clayey types of soil using finite element (FE ...

Helical Piles as a Novel Foundation System for Offshore Piled Facilities

Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference, 2015
Abstract Driven piles are used to support the majority of offshore oil and gas structures with jacket structures supported by axially loaded piles still remaining the most common form of fixed offshore platform. Piles for conventional platforms are normally driven open-ended steel piles.

Performance of Helical Piles with Grouted Shafts

New Technological and Design Developments in Deep Foundations, 2000
A new foundation system employing in-situ grouting of helical screw piles has recently been developed. As the anchor is installed into the soil, a column of grout is "pulled down" around the anchor shaft providing an in-situ grouted shaft. This foundation system has been successfully employed at several sites with very soft soils overlying a more ...
