Prevalence of Helicobacter pylori Exposure and Risk Factors Among BRCA1 and BRCA2 Carriers

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, Volume 159, Issue 7, Page 1663-1668, 1 October 2026.
BRCA1 and BRCA2 pathogenic germline variant (PGV) carriers may be at increased risk of gastric cancer (GC), especially in the case of prior or active Helicobacter pylori (Hp) infection. The extent to which Hp influences BRCA1 and BRCA2‐associated GC remains uncertain. Here, the authors evaluated plasma samples from a U.S. cohort of BRCA1, BRCA2, PALB2,

Phenotypic expression of the gene‐for‐gene interaction in plant pathogenic bacteria: An implication for resistance to bacterial diseases by plants

open access: yesAgrosystems, Geosciences &Environment, Volume 9, Issue 3, September 2026.
Abstract Plant pathogenic bacteria cause massive losses in agriculture and damage to natural plant habitats. Bacterial pathogens not only reduce crop production, but they also reduce crop quality by releasing toxins into the environment. Pathogenic bacteria that invade plant tissues must overcome the plant's defense mechanisms. Plants possess an innate

Artificial Intelligence Resources for the Screening of Titles and Abstracts in Systematic Reviews: A Scoping Review

open access: yesCochrane Evidence Synthesis and Methods, Volume 4, Issue 5, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Introduction Artificial intelligence (AI) is a branch of technology enabling machines to emulate complex human skills; it can also entail problem‐solving using bioinspired methods. It is used for automating systematic literature reviews (SLR), that is, defining a clinical question, locating relevant literature, preliminary screening, study ...

Cancer statistics for Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander people, 2026

open access: yesCancer, Volume 132, Issue 17, 1 September 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Cancer statistics for Asian American and Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander (NHPI) people are usually aggregated, masking substantial variation within this heterogeneous population. Herein, the American Cancer Society reports cancer incidence and survival for 8 Asian American and 3 NHPI ethnic groups.

Colorectal Cancer and Intestinal Protozoan Infections: Prevalence, Risk Factors, and Molecular Confirmation in Western Iran: A Descriptive Case‐Control Study

open access: yesHealth Science Reports, Volume 9, Issue 9, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Background and Aims Infections are recognized contributors to cancer development. This study aimed to assess the prevalence, socio‐demographic characteristics, and risk factors associated with intestinal protozoan parasites in patients with colorectal cancer (CRC) in Western Iran.

Meat Intake and Risk of Gastric and Esophageal Adenocarcinoma in the European Prospective Investigation Into Cancer and Nutrition (EPIC) Study

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, Volume 159, Issue 5, Page 1176-1187, 1 September 2026.
Limited evidence links processed meat intake and non‐cardia gastric cancer, while esophageal adenocarcinoma is increasing in Western countries, where diets are typically high in red and processed meats. Using data from over 450,000 participants from a large prospective study, the authors examined meat consumption and the risk of gastric and esophageal ...

Burden and Correlates of Multiple Chronic Infections and Their Associations With Cancer Incidence in Chinese Adults: A Large Case‐Cohort Study

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, Volume 159, Issue 5, Page 1282-1295, 1 September 2026.
While several oncogenic pathogens cause site‐specific cancers, uncertainties remain about many other chronic infections and combined pathogen effects, especially in non‐Western populations. Using a large case–cohort study nested within the China Kadoorie Biobank, the authors found that co‐infection was common, with a mean of 10 pathogens per individual.
