Effect of Helix Angle and Normal Rake Angle on Stability in End Milling

Advanced Materials Research, 2009
Chatter phenomenon often occurs during end milling of metal-cutting and becomes a common limitation to achieve high productivity and part quality. This paper studies the relationship expression between the parameters of oblique cutting and milling coefficients by analyzing the geometrical relationship of oblique cutting, and derives the mathematic ...

Helix-helix interaction viewed in an angle frame indicates a role of the size of sidechains in packing

International Journal of Bioinformatics Research and Applications, 2020
Three-dimensional packing is essential for protein folding. Homology alignment and de nova methods have been used to develop algorithms that would predict protein packing in proteins. Even though hydrophobic cores of proteins are formed through the packing of side chains of hydrophobic residues, the stereological arrangement of individual amino acids ...

Lower Pitch Angle Helix for Satellite Application

21st International Communications Satellite Systems Conference and Exhibit, 2003
This paper proposes a new configuration of lower pitch angle helix (LPH) with taper-end to decrease the height of helix for multibeam satellite antennas. In general, lower pitch angle helix is not suitable for axial mode operation so that good performance cannot be obtained in practice.

The Effect of Helix Angle Variation on Milling Stability

Journal of Manufacturing Science and Engineering, 2012
Helical milling tools of nonuniform helix angles are widely used in manufacturing industry. While the milling tools with these special cutting edges are already available in the market, their cutting dynamics has not been fully explored. Also, there have been several attempts to introduce complex harmonically varied helix tools, but the manufacturing ...

Tilt Angle of a Trans-membrane Helix is Determined by Hydrophobic Mismatch

Journal of Molecular Biology, 2005
In order to investigate the compensation mechanism of a trans-membrane helix in response to hydrophobic mismatch, the tilt and rotation angles of the trans-membrane helix of Vpu aligned in lipid bilayers of various thickness were determined using orientation-dependent frequencies obtained from solid-state NMR experiments of aligned samples.

Experimental and numerical study on swirlmeter with different helix angles of swirler

Transactions of the Institute of Measurement and Control, 2019
Swirlmeters are widely used to measure the flowrate in engineering due to its simple structure, stable operation stability, and accurate measuring precision. In this paper, in order to disclose the influence of different helix angles of swirler on the metering characteristics of the swirlmeter, the metrological performance and internal unsteady flow of

Effect of Helix Angle on Flow in Corrugated Pipes

Journal of the Hydraulics Division, 1970
New measurements of the Darcy friction factor in helical corrugated pipes are combined with earlier measurements to show general trends. These indicate that for a given pipe diameter, friction factor decreases as helix angle decreases and that for a given helix angle, friction factor decreases as pipe diameter increases.

Problem of measuring threads with a large helix angle

Measurement Techniques, 1966
It is recommended to use formulas (8)-(18) for a precise evaluation of dimension M for a large helix angle, and in general for any given parameters of an Archimedean-screw surface and any diameters of the measuring wire or roller.

Cutting performance of end mills with different helix angles

International Journal of Machine Tools and Manufacture, 1989
Abstract In this paper an investigation of the cutting performance of several end mills with right and left hand helix angles is reported. Cutting tests were performed on aluminum alloy L65 for three milling processes in which cutting force, surface roughness and concavity of a machined plane surface were measured.

The Effect of Harmonic Helix Angle Variation on Milling Stability

Volume 4: 8th International Conference on Multibody Systems, Nonlinear Dynamics, and Control, Parts A and B, 2011
The linearly varied helix tool is widely used in manufacturing industry and milling tools are available in the market with these special cutting edges. There were several attempts to introduce complex harmonically varied helix tools, but the manufacturing of sinusoid edges is extremely difficult and its effect on cutting dynamics is not clear yet.
