Effect of Chronic Haloperidol on Electrical Parameters of Command Neurons in Helix Lucorum
Bulletin of Experimental Biology and Medicine, 2003We studied the effects of neuroleptic haloperidol on electric characteristics (resting potential, action potential threshold, and critical level of depolarization) of command neurons LPa3, RPa3, LPa2, and RPa2 responsible for defense behavior in edible snail Helix Lucorum.

Extraction of genomic DNA for sequencing from snail Helix lucorum
Journal of GeneticsGenomic studies make it possible to breakthrough in many fields such as biochemistry, physiology, phylogenetics, etc., though they are unworkable without sequences of genomic DNA of an organism. The terrestrial mollusks’ genomes would benefit gastropod biology investigations, that are unavailable so far due to problems in DNA integrity and quality ...

Anti-EBV Activity of Hemocyanin Isolated from Helix Lucorum
Antiviral Research, 2011henotype. To better characterize the activity of ODE-MPMPA eplicon rebound and compound uptake studies were performed. Methods: Huh-7.5.1 cells stably expressing the BM4-5 FEO eplicon (1b) were seeded in 96 well plates (2500 cells/well) and xposed to ODE-MPMPA at the EC50 (1.5 M) and EC90 (8 M).

Neural mechanisms of age-dependent changes in avoidance behaviour of the snail Helix lucorum
Neuroscience, 1987In order to study the emergence of different components of learning and memory, we investigated developmental changes in behavioural, neurophysiological and histochemical experiments in newborn and adult terrestrial snails (Helix lucorum L.). The absence of sensitization and inability to develop avoidance-conditioned reactions were revealed in ...

The cDNA sequence of three hemocyanin subunits from the garden snail Helix lucorum
Gene, 2011Hemocyanins are blue copper containing respiratory proteins residing in the hemolymph of many molluscs and arthropods. They can have different molecular masses and quaternary structures. Moreover, several molluscan hemocyanins are isolated with one, two or three isoforms occurring as decameric, didecameric, multidecameric or tubule aggregates. We could

Regulation of neuron cholinoreceptor plasticity of Helix lucorum by second messengers and opioids
Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part C: Pharmacology, Toxicology and Endocrinology, 1995The rhythmical local ionophoretic applications of acetylcholine (ACh) to the somatic membrane of Helix lucorum identified neurons evokes the reversible depression of the ACh-induced response which shows cholinoreceptor (ChR) desensitization. ChR desensitization is regulated not by one but by several known second messengers and G-proteins.

[Intersensory interactions in the CNS of Helix lucorum].
Neirofiziologiia = Neurophysiology, 1986Hair cell responses to adequate stimulation of statocyst, eye and chemoreceptors of the optic tentacle bulb were studied by means of intracellular and extracellular recordings. Hair cells increased firing frequency to titling of the statocyst. Displacement of the statocyst caused a depolarizing wave with superimposed spikes in the hair cell.

Functions of Peptide CNP4, Encoded by the HCS2 Gene, in the Nervous System of Helix Lucorum
Neuroscience and Behavioral Physiology, 2006The aims of the present work were to study the role of neuropeptide CNP4, encoded by the HCS2 gene (which is expressed mainly in parietal command interneurons), in controlling the activity of the respiratory system, and also to study the effects of this neuropeptide on isolated defensive behavior neurons in prolonged culture.

Nervous system and neural maps in gastropodHelix lucorum L.
Neuroscience and Behavioral Physiology, 1994The present review summarizes the literature and provides new data concerning nervous system structure and the identification of individual neurons in the snail Helix lucorum. Information about especially well-known neurons is provided in a table, and maps of the identifiable neuron's location in ganglia are correlated with the results of retrograde ...

[Neurochemical mechanisms of food aversion conditioning consolidation in snail Helix lucorum].
Rossiiskii fiziologicheskii zhurnal imeni I.M. Sechenova, 2008Effects of cycloheximide, protein synthesis inhibitors, as well as serotonin receptor antagonist and NMDA receptor antagonist on food aversion conditioning consolidation were studied in snail Helix lucorum. Food aversion conditioning was absent in snails after application of cycloheximide.
