Acute GARP Depletion Disrupts Vesicle Transport, Leading to Severe Defects in Sorting, Secretion and O‐Glycosylation

open access: yesTraffic, Volume 26, Issue 1-3, January/March 2025.
Cartoon illustrating defects caused by GARP dysfunction. (Left) Control cells exhibit normal Golgi morphology with a stratified distribution of enzymes and trafficking machinery. (Right) Following acute VPS54 depletion, vesicle numbers increase, the trans‐Golgi enlarges, endosome‐Golgi trafficking proteins mislocalize to vesicles, and Golgi association

Physiological, Diurnal and Stress-Related Variability of Cadmium-Metallothionein Gene Expression in Land Snails.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2016
The terrestrial Roman snail Helix pomatia has successfully adapted to strongly fluctuating conditions in its natural soil habitat. Part of the snail's stress defense strategy is its ability to express Metallothioneins (MTs).

Automated enzymatic hydrolysis of urine samples for improved systematic toxicological analysis of drug‐facilitated sexual assault cases

open access: yesDrug Testing and Analysis, Volume 16, Issue 11, Page 1254-1270, November 2024.
Development and validation of an UHPLC‐MS/MS screening method covering 144 drugs and metabolites relevant to drug‐faciliated sexual assaults. The method included an automated enzymatic hydrolysis for an improved systemtatic toxicological analysis of DFSA cases.

Mechanistic insights into uptake, transfer and exchange of metal ions by the three‐metal clusters of a metalloprotein

open access: yesProtein Science, Volume 33, Issue 11, November 2024.
Abstract Metallothioneins (MTs) are small proteins that coordinate d‐block metal ions in sulfur‐metal clusters to control metal ion concentrations within the cell. Here we study metal cluster formation in the MT of the periwinkle Littorina littorea (LlMT) by nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR).

Glycans in melanoma: Drivers of tumour progression but sweet targets to exploit for immunotherapy

open access: yesImmunology, Volume 173, Issue 1, Page 33-52, September 2024.
Aberrant glycosylation patterns on tumour cells emerged as an unmissable hallmark of cancer progression. Such tumour ‘glycocode’ plays a major role in promoting tumour cell proliferation, invasion, migration, but also dismantles anti‐tumour defences through interactions with lectins expressed on immune cells.

Enhanced absorption of prenylated cinnamic acid derivatives from Brazilian green propolis by turmeric in humans and rats

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 12, Issue 7, Page 4680-4691, July 2024.
This study investigated the effects of several herbal extracts (turmeric, ginkgo leaf, coffee fruit, soybean, and gotu kola) on the plasma concentrations of cinnamic acid derivatives after Brazilian green propolis (BGP) ingestion. In the clinical study, the AUC of artepillin C, a major plasma component of BGP, was significantly increased by 1.7‐fold ...

Study of toxicness of snails meat on biological model

open access: yesНауковий вісник Львівського національного університету ветеринарної медицини та біотехнологій імені С.З. Ґжицького: Серія Ветеринарні науки, 2019
Snails can be found in any part of the planet. They belong to the class of gastropods, which includes terrestrial, freshwater, marine snails. Their ancestors are some of the most ancient species of the fauna.

Pediatric poisoning management: How clinical practice can benefit from forensic approach

open access: yesJournal of Forensic Sciences, Volume 69, Issue 4, Page 1501-1507, July 2024.
Abstract Pediatric population represents the most vulnerable and at risk for unintentional poisoning, with children younger than 6 years old accounting for nearly half of poison exposures. Poisoning is a time‐dependent emergency. The need to reach a scientific agreement on diagnostic protocol and treatment seems to be crucial to reduce morbidity and ...

Taxonomic revision and dissolution of the genus Monachoides (Gastropoda, Stylommatophora)

open access: yesZoologica Scripta, Volume 53, Issue 4, Page 419-437, July 2024.
Abstract Monachoides is a genus of medium‐sized European land snails in the family Hygromiidae. Systematics of this family was until recently based on traits of the genital system that were shown to be uninformative, resulting in revisions of classifications at the genus and family levels.
