ABSTRACT Background COVID‐19 has had major global health impacts, yet reported morbidity and mortality have been lower in Africa despite serological evidence of widespread infection. Malaria has been proposed as a potential modifier of susceptibility to and outcomes of SARS‐CoV‐2 infection.

Parasites play crucial roles in ecosystem balance yet remain largely excluded from conservation assessments. This paper introduces novel indices for quantifying parasite endemism, conservation status and taxonomic‐weighted diversity, alongside the ZISTA software for automated calculation.

Long‐term trends in parasite diversity and infection levels: approaches and patterns
ABSTRACT Parasites exist in every ecosystem, affecting nearly all organisms and playing a complex role in human societies. On the one hand, they contribute substantially to biodiversity and support ecosystem stability by performing essential ecological functions.

Capsule Endoscopy in the Diagnosis of Hookworm‐Induced Acute Intestinal Bleeding—A Case Report
ABSTRACT In endemic regions, unexplained small‐bowel bleeding should prompt consideration of parasitic etiologies even when routine investigations are unrevealing. Advanced small‐bowel imaging can directly demonstrate active sources of hemorrhage, enabling timely targeted therapy, preventing unnecessary procedures, and reducing morbidity associated ...

The parasitic worm-derived immunomodulator, ES-62 rescues defective levels of IL-10-producing regulatory B cells (Bregs) and suppresses chronic Th1/Th17-driven inflammation to protect against joint destruction in the mouse collagen-induced arthritis (CIA)

Alterations of circulating innate lymphoid cells in recent‐onset type 1 diabetes
Circulating innate lymphoid cells (ILC) in patients with recent‐onset type 1 diabetes (T1D) show a chronic activation and a primed phenotype, with overexpression of HLA Class II (ILC1 and ILCP) and dysregulation of costimulatory and migratory mRNA transcripts. Glucose and cytokines (IL‐1β) mediate circulating ILC activation and HLA Class II expression.

Competent Non‐Native Alternative Host Reduces Infection Success in a Generalist Parasite
In this study, we experimentally assessed how the addition of a non‐native alternative host affects the infection success of the larval generalist trematode, Diplostomum pseudospathaceum, in fish intermediate hosts. Our results demonstrate that the presence of alternative hosts, especially the non‐native ones, can reduce parasite transmission through ...
