Use of Hemadsorption in a Case of Pediatric Toxic Shock Syndrome [PDF]

open access: yesCase Reports in Critical Care, 2017
Background. Toxic shock syndrome is a potentially fatal toxin-mediated disease. The role of toxins in this clinical entity made us hypothesize that extracorporeal blood purification with CytoSorb® could play a beneficial role in the clinical management ...

Excessive Apixaban Concentrations in a Bleeding Patient Treated With Pharmacological Reversal and Extracorporal Removal-A Case Report. [PDF]

open access: yesPharmacol Res Perspect
Excessive apixaban concentrations in a bleeding patient leading to impaired coagulation and treatment with pharmacological reversal and extracorporal removal. ABSTRACT In trauma, even therapeutic apixaban levels can significantly exacerbate bleeding.

Differential Impact of Polymyxin B Hemadsorption on Long-Term Mortality in Septic Shock: A Retrospective Analysis of Intra-Abdominal Versus Extra-Abdominal Infections. [PDF]

open access: yesArtif Organs
In this single‐center retrospective cohort study, the use of PMX‐HA was significantly associated with a reduced risk of 1‐year mortality in patients with septic shock due to intra‐abdominal infection. In contrast, no significant association was observed between PMX‐HA use and 1‐year mortality risk in patients with septic shock caused by extra‐abdominal

Hemadsorption: A New Therapeutic Option for Selected Cases of Bromazepam Intoxication

open access: yesCase Reports in Nephrology and Dialysis, 2022
Benzodiazepine ingestion is frequent in patients admitted to ICU for intoxications. Generally, a supportive approach by securing the airway, breathing, and circulation is sufficient.

Impact of CytoSorb® on interleukin-6 in cardiac surgery

open access: yesFrontiers in Cardiovascular Medicine, 2023
ObjectiveCardiac surgery is known to activate a cascade of inflammatory mediators leading to a systemic inflammatory response. Hemadsorption (HA) devices such as CytoSorb® have been postulated to mitigate an overshooting immune response, which is ...

Quantitative Assessment of Hemadsorption by Myxoviruses: Virus Hemadsorption Assay [PDF]

open access: yesApplied Microbiology, 1973
The standardization and quantitative evaluation of an assay for myxoviruses, based on the enumeration of individual infected clone 1-5C-4 cells manifesting hemadsorption within 24 h of infection, are described. Hemadsorption was detectable earlier than immunofluorescence in infected cells or hemagglutinins in culture medium.

Hemadsorption by Coronavirus Strain OC43 [PDF]

open access: yesExperimental Biology and Medicine, 1972
SummaryOC43 virus-infected BS-C-1, rhesus MK, HEK, and HDCS WI38 cell cultures were found to hemadsorb rat and mouse erythrocytes. The hemadsorption technique provided a simple method for performing OC43 virus neutralization tests with both human and animal sera.

Hemadsorption by colonies of Ureaplasma urealyticum [PDF]

open access: yesInfection and Immunity, 1991
Hemadsorption by colonies of Ureaplasma urealyticum and Mycoplasma pneumoniae differed quantitatively and qualitatively. Using standard methodology, few strains of U. urealyticum hemadsorbed; with a modified method, most strains hemadsorbed, indicating a second type of association.
