An adhesion-hemadsorption inhibition test for the detection of serum antibody to Mycoplasma gallisepticum.

open access: yesThe Japanese Journal of Veterinary Science, 1989
A simple adhesion-hemadsorption inhibition (AHAI) test was developed for the detection of antibodies to Mycoplasma gallisepticum in the chicken sera. The AHAI antibody was detected simultaneously with HI antibody from sera of chickens intratracheally inoculated with viable cells of M. gallisepticum.

Successful Nonsurgical Management of Clostridium perfringens Sepsis With Massive Intravascular Hemolysis and Liver Abscess: A Case Report

open access: yesCase Reports in Infectious Diseases, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
Background: Clostridium perfringens is an anaerobic, Gram‐positive, spore‐forming bacterium, commonly associated with gas gangrene and clostridial myonecrosis. Although bacteremia is rare, it carries a high mortality rate, particularly when complicated by massive intravascular hemolysis.

Lectins as Promising Therapeutics for the Prevention and Treatment of HIV and Other Potential Coinfections

open access: yesBioMed Research International, Volume 2018, Issue 1, 2018., 2018
Human immunodeficiency virus‐acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (HIV/AIDS) remains a global health problem. Current therapeutics specifically target the viral pathogen at various stages of its life cycle, although complex interactions between HIV and other pathogenic organisms are evident.

Progress Toward Antigenic Epitopes of African Swine Fever Virus and Their Identification

open access: yesTransboundary and Emerging Diseases, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
African swine fever virus (ASFV) is a highly contagious pathogen that causes pigs to develop high fever, vomiting, diarrhea, and respiratory distress, with an exceptionally high case fatality rate. Unfortunately, vaccine development is hindered by a limited understanding of the structure and function of the protein encoded by ASFV, as well as the ...

Targeted Monitoring on Illegal Suid Meat and Meat Products Trade in Italy: African Swine Fever Detection and Implications for Transboundary Spread

open access: yesTransboundary and Emerging Diseases, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
African swine fever (ASF) is one of the most threatening animal diseases for the global swine industry. Due to the high risk of ASF virus (ASFv) transmission via infected suid meat and derived products, Italy adopted specific risk mitigation measures during 2023 and 2024.

Characterization of Adsorbents for Cytokine Removal from Blood in an In Vitro Model

open access: yesJournal of Immunology Research, Volume 2015, Issue 1, 2015., 2015
Introduction. Cytokines are basic targets that have to be removed effectively in order to improve the patient’s health status in treating severe inflammation, sepsis, and septic shock. Although there are different adsorbents commercially available, the success of their clinical use is limited.

Sepsis: From Pathophysiology to Individualized Patient Care

open access: yesJournal of Immunology Research, Volume 2015, Issue 1, 2015., 2015
Sepsis has become a major health economic issue, with more patients dying in hospitals due to sepsis related complications compared to breast and colorectal cancer together. Despite extensive research in order to improve outcome in sepsis over the last few decades, results of large multicenter studies were by‐and‐large very disappointing.
