Genetic landscape of Romanian PPGLs

open access: yesJournal of Cellular and Molecular Medicine, Volume 28, Issue 23, December 2024.
Abstract Pheochromocytomas and paragangliomas (PPGLs) are rare neuroendocrine tumours that originate from chromaffin cells and occur in the adrenal medulla and in the sympathetic or parasympathetic ganglia. Nearly 70% of PPGLs result from germline or somatic mutations in a single driver gene.

Clinical Pharmacogenetics Implementation Consortium Guideline (CPIC) for CYP2D6, ADRB1, ADRB2, ADRA2C, GRK4, and GRK5 Genotypes and Beta‐Blocker Therapy

open access: yesClinical Pharmacology &Therapeutics, Volume 116, Issue 4, Page 939-947, October 2024.
Beta‐blockers are widely used medications for a variety of indications, including heart failure, myocardial infarction, cardiac arrhythmias, and hypertension. Genetic variability in pharmacokinetic (e.g., CYP2D6) and pharmacodynamic (e.g., ADRB1, ADRB2, ADRA2C, GRK4, GRK5) genes have been studied in relation to beta‐blocker exposure and response.

Arterial to jugular‐bulb lactate difference in patients undergoing elective brain tumor craniotomy

open access: yesPhysiological Reports, Volume 12, Issue 20, October 2024.
Abstract Hyperlactatemia is common during tumor craniotomy, but the underlying pathophysiology is unclear. This study measured simultaneous arterial and jugular‐bulb lactate concentrations in patients undergoing brain tumor craniotomy to investigate the hypothesis that hyperlactatemia was associated with a net cerebrovascular lactate input.
