Anemia, hematinic deficiencies, and hyperhomocysteinemia in gastric parietal cell antibody-positive and -negative atrophic glossitis patients

open access: goldJournal of the Formosan Medical Association, 2019
Background/Purpose: Approximately 27% of atrophic glossitis (AG) patients have the serum gastric parietal cell antibody (GPCA) positivity. This study assessed whether the serum GPCA or AG itself was a significant factor causing anemia, hematinic ...

Hematinic deficiencies and anemia in gastric parietal cell antibody-positive and -negative oral submucous fibrosis patients

open access: goldJournal of Dental Sciences, 2018
Background/purpose: Previous studies showed that approximately 13–15% of male oral submucous fibrosis (OSF) patients are serum gastric parietal cell antibody (GPCA)-positive.

Serum thyroid autoantibodies are not associated with anemia, hematinic deficiencies, and hyperhomocysteinemia in patients with Behcet's disease

open access: goldJournal of Dental Sciences, 2018
Background/purpose: Our previous study found that 13 of 63 recurrent aphthous stomatitis (RAS)/Behcet's disease (BD) patients have thyroglobulin antibody (TGA) positivity and/or thyroid microsomal antibody (TMA) positivity (TGA/TMA positivity) but ...

Hematinic deficiencies and pernicious anemia in oral mucosal disease patients with macrocytosis

open access: greenJournal of the Formosan Medical Association, 2015
Macrocytosis is defined as having the mean corpuscular volume (MCV) ≥ 100 fL. This study assessed hematinic deficiencies and pernicious anemia (PA) in oral mucosal disease patients with macrocytosis. Methods: The blood hemoglobin (Hb), iron, vitamin B12,

open access: goldJournal of Dental Sciences, 2022
Background/purpose: Our previous study found that 19.8%, 16.2%, 4.8%, 2.3%, 19.2%, and 12.3% of 884 burning mouth syndrome (BMS) patients have anemia, serum iron, vitamin B12, and folic acid deficiencies, hyperhomocysteinemia, and serum gastric parietal ...

Anemia, hematinic deficiencies, and hyperhomocysteinemia in burning mouth syndrome patients with thyroglobulin antibody/thyroid microsomal antibody positivity but without gastric parietal cell antibody positivity

open access: goldJournal of Dental Sciences, 2022
Background/purpose: Our previous study found that 222 of 884 burning mouth syndrome (BMS) patients have thyroglobulin antibody (TGA) positivity and/or thyroid microsomal antibody (TMA) positivity but without gastric parietal cell antibody positivity ...

Hematinic deficiencies and anemia statuses in anti-gastric parietal cell antibody-positive or all autoantibodies-negative erosive oral lichen planus patients

open access: goldJournal of the Formosan Medical Association, 2018
Approximately 27% of erosive oral lichen planus (EOLP) patients have serum anti-gastric parietal cell antibody (GPCA) positivity. This study assessed whether serum GPCA or EOLP itself was a significant factor that caused hematinic deficiencies and anemia

Anemia and hematinic deficiencies in oral mucosal disease patients with microcytosis

open access: goldJournal of the Formosan Medical Association, 2017
Patients with microcytosis (defined as mean corpuscular volume  5 × 1012/L, and abnormally high homocysteine levels than healthy control individuals. Moreover, 162 (67.5%) of the 240 microcytosis patients had anemia.
