The Changing Landscape of Maintenance Therapy in Newly Diagnosed Multiple Myeloma: A Systematic Review With Network Meta‐Analysis of the European Myeloma Network (EMN)

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Hematology, Volume 101, Issue 9, Page 2353-2370, September 2026.
Our meta‐analysis showed significant improvement of PFS with lenalidomide, proteasome inhibitors, and CD38‐based therapies. A significant OS benefit was noted only with lenalidomide in transplant‐eligible (TE) patients, while CD38‐directed therapy showed a trend toward improved OS.

Quizartinib in Combination With FLAG‐IDA for Relapsed or Refractory Acute Myeloid Leukemia (FLAG‐QUIDA): A PETHEMA Phase I‐II Trial

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Hematology, Volume 101, Issue 9, Page 2258-2268, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Quizartinib is a tyrosine kinase inhibitor with single agent activity in patients with relapsed or refractory (R/R) acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and has demonstrated efficacy in first‐line therapy when combined with intensive chemotherapy in both FLT3 ITD‐negative and positive AML.

Participation and Follow‐Up Compliance in Cervical Cancer Screening According to Delivery Strategy for HPV Self‐Collection: A Community Trial in Underserved Colombian Areas

open access: yesCancer Medicine, Volume 15, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Low‐ and middle‐income countries (LMIC) continue to bear a high burden of cervical cancer (CC). Women's participation in CC screening is challenging in LMICs, but self‐collection of HPV tests has shown increased participation in controlled trials.

Rituximab Binding Endows CD20+ Extracellular Vesicles With NK Cell‐Activating Properties in B Cell Lymphoma

open access: yesJournal of Extracellular Vesicles, Volume 15, Issue 8, August 2026.
B cell lymphoma‐derived EVs are intrinsically neutral or suppressive with respect to NK cell activity (panel 1). In the context of rituximab treatment, NK cytotoxicity is enhanced by antibody‐dependent cell‐mediated cytotoxicity (panel 2). Herein we show that, in addition, rituximab recognition of EV‐associated CD20 generates immune complexes that ...

Regional Standardization of CLL Management: Results of a Delphi Consensus Process

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Haematology, Volume 117, Issue 2, Page 442-447, August 2026.
ABSTRACT The therapeutic landscape of chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) has been profoundly transformed by the introduction of Bruton tyrosine kinase and BCL‐2 inhibitors. Despite improved survival outcomes, treatment selection remains complex, particularly in older patients with comorbidities, frailty, and increased infectious vulnerability.

Real‐World Outcomes of FLAG‐Ida Regimen in 1079 Adult Patients With First Relapsed/Refractory AML: A PETHEMA Study

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Hematology, Volume 101, Issue 7, Page 1692-1705, July 2026.
ABSTRACT In a large multicenter real‐world cohort, we aimed to evaluate outcomes of FLAG‐Ida salvage therapy for relapsed/refractory (R/R) acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and validated the SALFLAGE prognostic score. We analyzed 1079 adults with R/R AML treated across 112 PETHEMA institutions over 26 years (1998–2024), including patients with primary ...

Multiple myeloma: A tale of deregulated transcription factors

open access: yesHemaSphere, Volume 10, Issue 7, July 2026.
Abstract A comprehensive understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying multiple myeloma (MM) pathogenesis is essential for developing therapeutic strategies that overcome disease heterogeneity and treatment relapse. In this review, we focus on transcription factors (TFs), key regulators of gene expression that play critical roles in normal ...

Switching between complement inhibitors in paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria: Analysis of strategy, efficacy, and safety

open access: yesHemaSphere, Volume 10, Issue 7, July 2026.
Abstract Paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria (PNH) is an ultra‐orphan disease. In 2026, approved complement inhibitors (CIs) for PNH include three C5 inhibitors (C5i) and three proximal inhibitors (PIs). Clinical trials for the approved PI pegcetacoplan, iptacopan, and C5i + danicopan had clear protocols for changing from terminal to PI, extrapolated ...
