Designing next‐generation immune cell therapies with nanomaterials

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
Nanomaterials are transforming immune cellular therapies (ICT) by addressing challenges like tumor accessibility and lengthy manufacturing. This perspective highlights innovations such as magnetic nanoparticles for target identification, lipid nanoparticles for T cell stimulation, and nanoparticle‐mediated gene cytokine delivery. These advances promise

Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation

open access: yesQatar Medical Journal, 2007
About 30 years ago bone marrow transplantation was an experimental procedure carried out as a last resort in terminally ill patients. Nowadays hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) has become a standard procedure for many severe malignant or non-malignant disorders of the hematopoietic system.

Aminated graphene nanosheet stimulates the maturation of hiPSCs‐derived cardiomyocytes in vitro and enhances their survival in vivo

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
Aminated graphene (G‐NH2) niche matrix plays a pivotal role in precisely manipulating cardiac differentiation and maturation of hiPSCs. The molecular mechanism underlying cardiomyocyte maturation is closely linked to the PDGF‐β signaling pathway. Cardiomyocytes derived from the G‐NH2 matrix exhibit enhanced activity and functionality in vivo.

Combining Cryogel Architecture and Macromolecular Crowding‐Enhanced Extracellular Matrix Cues to Mimic the Bone Marrow Niche

open access: yesMacromolecular Chemistry and Physics, Volume 224, Issue 1, January 2023., 2023
The development of a bone marrow niche model that closely mimics the natural 3D architecture of trabecular bone and the extracellular stromal compartment is reported. Macroporous cryogel scaffolds are functionalized with tissue‐specific, cell‐secreted ECM biopolymers. Macromolecular crowders enhance both ECM production and altered the microstructure of

Ridge, lasso, and elastic-net estimations of the modified Poisson and least-squares regressions for binary outcome data [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Logistic regression is a standard method in multivariate analysis for binary outcome data in epidemiological and clinical studies; however, the resultant odds-ratio estimates fail to provide directly interpretable effect measures. The modified Poisson and least-squares regressions are alternative standard methods that can provide risk-ratio and risk ...

Recommending ultra‐processed oral nutrition supplements for unintentional weight loss: Are there risks?

open access: yesNutrition in Clinical Practice, Volume 38, Issue 1, Page 88-101, February 2023., 2023
Abstract Oral nutrition supplements (ONS) are widely recommended for the management of unintentional weight loss in patient populations, long‐term care residents, and community‐dwelling older adults. Most marketed ONS are ultra‐processed, with precision nutrition and aseptic composition, as well as convenience and availability, driving their selection.
