Alkaline Active Hemicellulases
2019Xylan and mannan are the two most abundant hemicelluloses, and enzymes that modify these polysaccharides are prominent hemicellulases with immense biotechnological importance. Among these enzymes, xylanases and mannanases which play the vital role in the hydrolysis of xylan and mannan, respectively, attracted a great deal of interest.

Production of hemicellulases by Penicillium digitatum
Phytochemistry, 1970Abstract Penicillium digitatum grew sparsely on media containing hemicelluloses, but filtrates from these cultures had high macerating activity. They also contained xylanase and released only galactose, arabinose and xylose from a potato cell-wall preparation and from organge protopectin.

Cellulases, Hemicellulases, and Pectinases
2014The study of cellulases is important from the standpoint of microbial conversion of biomass to feeds and chemical feed stock. The complex structure of hemicelluloses has dictated a correspondingly diverse array of hemicellulases. The concentration (or actually dilution) of enzyme preparation required to effect this level of depolymerization is ...

Separation and quantification of cellulases and hemicellulases by capillary electrophoresis
Analytical Biochemistry, 2003Cellulases and hemicellulases are two classes of enzymes produced by filamentous fungi and secreted into the cultivation medium. Both classes of enzymes consist of a subset of classes of which the fungi produce several enzymes with varying molecular mass and pI but similar enzymatic activities.

Evaluation of the Effects of Hemicellulases on the Bleachability of Sulphite Pulps
hfsg, 1995Sulphite pulps were prepared from spruce chips with four cooking methods, differing in cooking pH, the use of additives such as anthraquinone, and the cooking time and temperature. Considerable differences in carbohydrate composition, lignin content and yield of the pulps were observed.

Studies on the structure and function cellulases and hemicellulases.
Proceedings of the British Society of Animal Production (1972), 1993Plant structural polysaccharides provide a major source of nutrient for ruminant livestock. These carbohydrates are not degraded by mammalian-derived enzymes, but are hydrolysed by rumen microbial plant cell wall hydrolases. In view of the pivotal role of microbial cellulases and xylanases in ruminant nutrition, there has been considerable interest in ...

Industrial Applications of Cellulases and Hemicellulases
2018Cellulase and hemicellulase products have been developed and widely used in many industrial settings over the last several decades. These applications include textile, animal feed, bakery, brewing, pulp and paper, and biofuel sectors. This chapter illustrates the mechanisms and examples of these applications.

Hemicellulase Activity of Aerobic Fungal Cellulases
Holzforschung, 2000SummaryCellulases isolated fromTrichoderma reeseiandPhanerochaete chrysosporiumwere screened for hemicellulolytic, pectinolytic and cellulolytic activity using locust bean mannan, birchwood xylan, citrus fruit pectin and carboxymethylated cellulose (CMC) as substrates.

Hemicellulases: Their Occurrence, Purification, Properties, and Mode of Action
1976Publisher Summary The terms “hemicellulases” or “hemicellulose-degrading enzymes” refer to those enzymes that specifically degrade only hemicelluloses, and do not include the glycosidases—which—in addition to their activity on glycosides of low molecular weight, are also frequently capable of hydrolyzing the short-chain or monosaccharide appendages ...
