Hemorheology and Microvascular Disorders [PDF]
The present review presents basic concepts of blood rheology related to vascular diseases. Blood flow in large arteries is dominated by inertial forces exhibited at high flow velocities, while viscous forces (i.e., blood rheology) play an almost negligible role.

Hemorheology and hemostasis in ischemic stroke patients treated with i.v. thrombolysis
Hemostatic and hemorheological dysregulations are the typicalpathological conditions in stroke. Thorough dynamic examinationsof hemostasis, platelet aggregation, kinetics of erythrocyteaggregation/disaggregation along with clinical and ...

Tropomodulin1 regulates the biomechanical changes in macrophages induced by matrix stiffness
The monocyte/macrophage infiltration plays critical roles in the development of atherosclerosis. Arterial stiffness is a cholesterol-independent risk factor for cardiovascular events.

Hemorheological Alterations and Oxidative Damage in Sickle Cell Anemia
Sickle cell anemia (SCA) is the most common hereditary disorder of hemoglobin (Hb) characterized by a mutation in the β globin gene, which leads to synthesis of HbS a hemoglobin which, under hypoxic conditions, gels and leading to the sickling of the red

ABSTRACT Background Chronic limb‐threatening ischemia (CLTI) is a severe form of lower‐extremity artery disease characterized by distal lesions and microcirculatory impairment, limiting revascularization efficacy. Rheocarna is a direct hemoperfusion low‐density lipoprotein (LDL) adsorption device with potential rheological and anti‐inflammatory ...

Graphical abstract illustrating the study design, physiological rationale, and key findings of the D‐PATH trial. Dapagliflozin, an SGLT2 inhibitor, lowers HbA1c and body weight while increasing hematocrit and erythropoietin levels. Although an elevated hematocrit could theoretically increase blood viscosity and impair microcirculatory flow, ex vivo ...
