Assessment of a Novel Vaccine Against Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease Virus in Young Rabbits

Viral Immunology, 2016
Rabbit hemorrhagic disease virus (RHDVb) is the new variant of the classical RHDV, a virulent pathogen responsible for an acute disease in young rabbits. The virus invades internal organs, especially the liver, spleen, kidneys, and gut; prevents coagulation; and causes liver necrosis.

Clinicopathologic findings of naturally occurring Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease Virus 2 infection in pet rabbits

Veterinary Clinical Pathology, 2019
AbstractTwo pet rabbits were presented with an acute decrease in appetite and activity. Rabbit 1 showed severe hypothermia, bradycardia, arrhythmias, a heart murmur, dyspnea, occlusion of the nares with secretions, icterus, dehydration, and gaseous gastrointestinal dilation. The urine was dark yellow. Rabbit 2 was overweight, apathetic, and dehydrated;

Virus-like particles from rabbit hemorrhagic disease virus can induce an anti-tumor response

Vaccine, 2008
Recombinant virus-like particles (VLP) expressing heterologous tumor antigens have recently been investigated for use as vaccines. We have chemically conjugated ovalbumin (OVA) or OVA-derived CD4 (OTII) and CD8 (OTI) epitopes, to rabbit hemorrhagic disease virus (RHDV) VLP.

European brown hare syndrome virus: relationship to rabbit hemorrhagic disease virus and other caliciviruses

Journal of Virology, 1994
Monoclonal antibodies directed against the capsid protein of rabbit hemorrhagic disease virus (RHDV) were used to identify field cases of European brown hare syndrome (EBHS) and to distinguish between RHDV and the virus responsible for EBHS. Western blot (immunoblot) analysis of liver extract of an EBHS virus (EBHSV)-infected hare revealed a single ...

Crude extracts of recombinant baculovirus expressing rabbit hemorrhagic disease virus 2 VLPs from both insect and rabbit cells protect rabbits from rabbit hemorrhagic disease caused by RHDV2

Archives of Virology, 2018
Vaccines against viral pathogens are often composed of recombinant proteins expressed in different systems. Such proteins expressed by recombinant baculoviruses have been proven to be effective for vaccination. Especially, after codon usage optimization high amounts of recombinant viral proteins can be obtained which can assemble to virus like ...

A new recombinant Orf virus (ORFV, Parapoxvirus) protects rabbits against lethal infection with rabbit hemorrhagic disease virus (RHDV)

Vaccine, 2011
This report describes the generation of a new recombinant Orf virus (ORFV; Parapoxvirus) expressing the major capsid protein VP1 (VP60) of the calicivirus, rabbit hemorrhagic disease virus (RHDV). Authentic expression of VP1 could be demonstrated in cells infected with the recombinant D1701-V-VP1 without the need for production of infectious ORFV ...

Sequence and genomic organization of a rabbit hemorrhagic disease virus isolated from a wild rabbit

Virus Genes, 1995
Rabbit hemorrhagic disease virus (RHDV) is a member of the caliciviridae family. The nucleotidic sequence of a full-length cDNA of one RHDV isolate (RHDV-SD) is reported. The genome is 7437 bases long and includes two ORFs, ORF1 (7034 b) and ORF2 (353 b), coding for the polyprotein and the Vp12, respectively.

Emergence of new virulent rabbit hemorrhagic disease virus strains in Saudi Arabia

Tropical Animal Health and Production, 2016
Rabbit hemorrhagic disease is an acute fatal highly contagious viral infectious disease that causes high losses among rabbitries. The disease was first reported in China in 1984 and later on in Saudi Arabia in 1996. The aim of this study was to investigate the emergence and pathogenicity of new rabbit hemorrhagic disease virus (RHDV) strains in Saudi ...
