Mussel-inspired nanoparticle composite hydrogels for hemostasis and wound healing

open access: yesFrontiers in Chemistry, 2023
Uncontrolled hemorrhage caused by trauma can easily lead to death. Efficient and safe hemostatic materials are an urgent and increasing need for hemostatic research. Following a trauma, wound healing is induced by various cellular mechanisms and proteins.

Translational Considerations for Injectable Biomaterials and Bioscaffolds to Repair and Regenerate Brain Tissue

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
The repair and regeneration of brain tissue faces both biological and technical challenges. Injectable bioscaffolds offer new opportunities to stimulate tissue regrowth in the brain by recruiting neural stem cells. Here, the translational issues are reviewed that need to be address to advance this promising new therapeutic approach from the bench to ...

The hemostatic power of fat: An effective, inexpensive, and biocompatible method to achieve hemostasis in cardiac surgery

open access: yesTürk Kardiyoloji Derneği Arşivi, 2018
Postoperative bleeding with its important socioeconomic cost is associated with an increased morbidity and mortality. It causes hemodynamic instability, increases blood loss, and multiplies the number of transfusions required.

Fibrin D-dimer, markers of coagulation activation and the risk of major ischaemic heart disease in the Caerphilly Study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
We have previously reported that plasma fibrin D-dimer (a marker of turnover of cross-linked Fibrin) showed a strong and independent association with incident ischaemic heart disease (IHD) in the Caerphilly Study cohort of 1,998 men a-ed 49-65.

Hemostatic disorders in women [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Thrombosis and Haemostasis, 2013
The past few decades have seen major advances in multidisciplinary obstetric care and management of gynecological conditions in women with bleeding disorders. Awareness of the impact of bleeding disorders has improved among the obstetric and gynecological community. Undiagnosed bleeding disorders can be the underlying cause for a significant proportion

Modular Control of PEG‐Poly(2‐Oxazoline) Co‐Assembly Enables Tunable Aggregate Properties for Intraocular Pressure Management

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A thermo‐responsive poly(2‐oxazoline)‐based injectable formulation is developed to modulate intraocular pressure (IOP) in both normal and hypotonic eyes. By adjusting the PEG content, the aggregation behavior is finely tuned, enabling IOP elevation without long‐term deposition.
