Understanding the Motivations, Perceptions and Nutritional Implications of Plant‐Based Milk Consumption Compared to Dairy‐Based Milk

open access: yesJournal of Human Nutrition and Dietetics, Volume 39, Issue 3, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Plant‐based milks have been increasing in popularity amongst Australian consumers, concurrent with a decrease in cow's milk consumption. Given the key role of cow's milk in Australian diets, it is necessary to understand the motivations behind this consumer behaviour and investigate the nutritional implications associated with this ...

On the Origins of Toughness in Corymbia calophylla (Marri Tree) Nuts

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 28, 18 May 2026.
We uncover the natural toughening mechanisms of the marri nut, including fiber pullout, crack deflection, and a viscoelastic matrix, which enable exceptional energy absorption and ductility comparable to Teflon, with an elastic modulus similar to acrylic.

Plant population effects on fiber hemp growth and yield in Southeastern United States

open access: yesAgronomy Journal, Volume 118, Issue 3, May/June 2026.
Abstract Fiber hemp (Cannabis sativa L.) has gained renewed interest in the United States as a bast fiber crop used in textiles, nonwovens, and composite materials. Region‐specific production practices are limited due to the crops relatively recent legal status.
