In Vitro Cytotoxic Activity of Methanol Extracts of Selected Medicinal Plants Traditionally Used in Mexico against Human Hepatocellular Carcinoma

open access: yesPlants, 2022
Medicinal plants are traditionally used in Mexico to treat diseases such as cancer. The present study aimed to evaluate the cytotoxic, antioxidant, and anti-hemolytic activity of 15 plants of ethnopharmacological use in Mexico.

Orientifolds of K3 and Calabi-Yau Manifolds with Intersecting D-branes

open access: yes, 2002
We investigate orientifolds of type II string theory on K3 and Calabi-Yau 3-folds with intersecting D-branes wrapping special Lagrangian cycles. We determine quite generically the chiral massless spectrum in terms of topological invariants and discuss ...

Secretion of proalbumin by canavanine-treated Hep-G2 cells.

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 1983
The two processing sites in the conversion of preproalbumin to albumin are marked by arginine residues. Therefore, to study the mechanisms of albumin processing and secretion, the arginine residues of nascent albumin were replaced with canavanine by the incubation of Hep-G2 cells with this arginine analog.

Cyanopeptide Mixtures Induce Variable Synergistic and Antagonistic Effects Across Diverse Human Cell Lines

open access: yesEnvironmental Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Cyanobacterial harmful algal blooms (cyanoHABs) threaten human, animal, and ecosystem health and safety through production of toxic secondary metabolites. Microcystis, a cosmopolitan bloom‐forming cyanobacterial genus, is well‐known for producing hepatotoxic microcystins (MCs), but it can produce many other bioactive cyanopeptides, such as ...

Apolipoprotein B synthesized by Hep G2 cells undergoes fatty acid acylation.

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1988
Apolipoprotein B is the principal protein associated with cholesterol transport in the blood and has been proposed to play a central role in human atherogenesis.

Tensor models and embedded Riemann surfaces

open access: yes, 2011
Tensor models and, more generally, group field theories are candidates for higher-dimensional quantum gravity, just as matrix models are in the 2d setting. With the recent advent of a 1/N-expansion for coloured tensor models, more focus has been given to

SiC nanoparticles cyto- and genotoxicity to Hep-G2 cells

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Conference Series, 2009
While emerging nanotechnologies have seen significant development in recent years, knowledge on exposure levels as well as data on toxicity of nanoparticles are still quite limited. Indeed, there is a general agreement that development of nanotechnologies may lead to considerable dissemination of nanoparticles in the environment.

Lifestyle Management in Menopause: A Systematic Review of Women With Premature Ovarian Insufficiency

open access: yesClinical Endocrinology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Premature ovarian insufficiency (POI), the loss of ovarian function before age 40, increases the risk of cardiovascular disease, low bone mineral density, dementia and psychological distress. Lifestyle interventions reduce chronic disease risk in other populations and, with hormone therapy, may improve health outcomes in POI.

Quantum gravity as a group field theory: a sketch

open access: yes, 2005
We give a very brief introduction to the group field theory approach to quantum gravity, a generalisation of matrix models for 2-dimensional quantum gravity to higher dimension, that has emerged recently from research in spin foam models.Comment: jpconf;

Regulation of PHOX2B gene expression by the long non‐coding natural antisense RNA PHOX2B‐AS1

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
PHOX2B is a transcription factor essential for autonomic nervous system development. We identify and characterize PHOX2B‐AS1, a human long non‐coding antisense transcript at the PHOX2B locus, along with its murine counterpart. Our findings reveal bidirectional transcription and reciprocal regulation: PHOX2B activates PHOX2B‐AS1, whereas PHOX2B‐AS1 ...
