Integrative Omics Analysis Reveals the Regulation of Hypoxia Tolerance in Large Yellow Croaker (Larimichthys crocea) via the Lipoic Acid Synthase (lias) Gene

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Lipoic acid synthase (lias) can regulate α‐KG levels through lipoylation, thereby negatively regulating HIF‐1α protein levels via PHD under hypoixa. The Hap2 allele of lias exhibits lower expression levels than Hap1, leading to the accumulation of more HIF‐1α protein and thereby enhancing hypoxia tolerance. ABSTRACT Hypoxia stress seriously affects the

A case of a cystic artery arising from the superior mesenteric artery with abnormal branching of the celiac trunk

open access: yesBMC Research Notes, 2017
Objective The celiac trunk normally has three branches; i.e. the left gastric, splenic, and common hepatic artery. It is known that the right hepatic artery occasionally branches from the superior mesenteric artery, while the cystic artery arising from ...

Usefulness of microsurgical back‐table angioplasty for multiple hepatic arteries in living donor liver transplantation

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, 2020
The graft hepatic artery orifice is tiny in living donor liver transplantation, and therefore, it is more difficult to reconstruct the hepatic artery than in deceased donor liver transplantation.

Whole‐Genome Sequencing Pilot of the Central Asian Genomic Diversity Project Reveals Distinct Histories, Adaptation, and Introgression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
As a pilot phase of the Central Asian Genomic Diversity Project, whole‐genome sequencing of 166 individuals from 20 Central Asian and Afghan Hazara populations reveals fine‐scale substructure shaped by repeated trans‐Eurasian migration and admixture. Integrated analyses uncover post‐admixture adaptation, archaic introgression, and medically relevant ...

Microalgae Hybrid Biosystem for Enhanced Oral Delivery of Rifaximin in Hepatic Encephalopathy Treatment

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The microalgae‐nanoparticle hybrid system with antibacterial activity can improve the oral delivery and therapeutic efficiency for hepatic encephalopathy treatment. Oral administration of the system can reduced systemic ammonia levels, enhanced intestinal barrier function, attenuated systemic and neuroinflammation, ameliorated cognitive impairments ...

Microenvironment‐Responsive Nanomedicine Enables Vertical Modulation of Mitochondrial Pathological Networks in Myocardial Ischemia–Reperfusion Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A mitochondria‐targeted, microenvironment‐responsive nanoplatform enables pH/ROS‐triggered co‐delivery of berberine and isoliensinine to orchestrate ROS scavenging, inflammation suppression, and apoptosis inhibition. This vertical modulation of mitochondrial pathological networks preserves mitochondrial function and effectively mitigates myocardial ...

Congenital hepatic arteriovenous fistula: a case report and review of the literature

open access: yesJournal of Medical Case Reports
Background Hepatic arteriovenous fistula refers to the direct abnormal communication between the hepatic artery and the portal vein or hepatic vein. Clinical symptoms of hepatic arteriovenous fistula primarily depend on the blood flow volume, location ...

Hypothalamic Control of Liver Health and Disease: From Circuits to Pathophysiology and Therapies

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This review delineates the hypothalamic circuits that control liver homeostasis via autonomic and neuroendocrine pathways. Dysregulation of this hypothalamus–liver axis drives disease progression across a spectrum including steatotic liver disease, liver inflammation and injury, fibrosis, cirrhosis, and hepatocellular carcinoma.

Stress Hyperglycemia Drives CD4+ T Cell PANoptosis and Postoperative Organ Injury via Monocyte‐Derived Succinate

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
High glucose is linked to reduced succinate dehydrogenase activity in CD14+ monocytes, accompanied by succinate accumulation and extracellular release. Extracellular succinate exacerbates mitochondrial ROS production and mtDNA release in CD4+ T cells. Cytosolic mtDNA then activates Z‐DNA binding protein 1 (ZBP1) and engages ZBP1‐associated inflammatory

Engineering Morphological Anisotropy to Control the In Vivo Transport Dynamics, Clearance, and Biodistribution of Silica Nanocarriers

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Morphological anisotropy directs the in vivo transport under physiological flow and clearance of silica nanocarriers. Increasing anisotropy reduces cellular uptake, suppresses hepatic and splenic sequestration, and prolongs systemic circulation by steering particles toward the central flow core.
