A human hepatitis B viral enhancer element. [PDF]
Fragments of the cloned hepatitis B virus (HBV) genome were assayed in vivo for the presence of a transcriptional enhancer element. We demonstrate that sequences positioned approximately 450 bp upstream from the HBcAg gene promoter are required for its efficient activity.

Immunohistochemical study of hepatic oval cells in human chronic viral hepatitis
To detect immunohistochemically the presence of oval cells in chronic viral hepatitis with antibody against c-kit.We detected oval cells in paraffin embedded liver sections of 3 normal controls and 26 liver samples from patients with chronic viral hepatitis, using immunohistochemistry with antibodies against c-kit, piclass glutathione S-transferase (pi-

Establishment of mice model with human viral hepatitis B
To establish a mice model of hepatitis B by using HBV-transgenic mice, and to transfer HBV-specific cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTL) induced from syngeneic BALB/c mice immunized by a eukaryotic expression vector containing HBV complete genome DNA.HBV DNA was obtained from digested pBR322-2HBV and ligated with the vector pcDNA3.

Inherited IL-18BP deficiency in human fulminant viral hepatitis [PDF]
Fulminant viral hepatitis (FVH) is a devastating and unexplained condition that strikes otherwise healthy individuals during primary infection with common liver-tropic viruses. We report a child who died of FVH upon infection with hepatitis A virus (HAV) at age 11 yr and who was homozygous for a private 40-nucleotide deletion in IL18BP, which encodes ...
