Human Pegivirus Encephalitis With Brain Detection and Response to Sofosbuvir Ledipasvir

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Human pegivirus (HPgV‐1) has been associated with severe encephalomyelitis in immunocompromised patients. Its neurological spectrum remains poorly defined. We report a slowly progressive encephalitis in a person living with well‐controlled HIV, characterized by white matter abnormalities and inflammatory cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). HPgV RNA was

Hepatitis A, B, and C [PDF]

open access: yesSexually Transmitted Infections, 2006
Hepatitis A, B, and C cause acute infection of the liver that may manifest as an acute icteric illness or be detected incidentally as raised transaminase levels.1 Most cases are diagnosed only in retrospect on serological screening. Hepatitis B and C can persist as chronic infections (>6 months). ### Hepatitis A Hepatitis A virus (HAV) is transmitted

Hepatitis B discrimination: global responses requiring global data

open access: yesBMC Public Health
Over 250 million individuals live with chronic hepatitis B (CHB) infection worldwide. A significant proportion of these people often face discrimination defined as the unjust, unfair, or prejudicial treatment of a person on the grounds of their hepatitis

Cracking the Code: Which Ocular Symptoms Predict Dry Eye Signs? Insights From a Large International Sicca Registry

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective The study aimed to identify symptom‐based predictors of dry eye disease (DED) signs in the Sjögren's International Collaborative Clinical Alliance (SICCA) cohort. Methods We performed a retrospective analysis examining 16 ocular symptoms (most graded 0–4) and artificial tear (AT) use (graded 0–3) as predictors of DED signs (abnormal ocular ...

Fibrates Inhibit PLTP‐induced M2 Macrophage Infiltration and Increase the Sensitivity of Hepatocellular Carcinoma to ICIs

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Phospholipid transfer protein(PLTP) plays a critical role in forming a complex with kinase A (AURKA) and P65. This interaction facilitates phosphorylation of P65 at Ser536, leading to the activation of the NF‐κB signaling pathway. Ultimately, this leads to the upregulation of downstream cytokines, including IL‐6, IL‐8, and CSF‐1, which promotes M2 ...

Hepatitis B reactivation associated with immune suppressive and biological modifier therapies: current concepts, management strategies and future directions

open access: yesGastroenterology, 2017
Hepatitis B reactivation associated with immune suppressive and biological therapies is emerging to be an important cause of morbidity and mortality in patients with current or prior exposure to hepatitis B virus infection. The population at risk for HBV

TRMT6‐Mediated m1A Modification of CDK9 mRNA Is a Dual‐Pronged Pathogenic Driver for HBV‐Related Hepatocellular Carcinoma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
TRMT6‐mediated m1A modification in CDK9 mRNA enhances its mRNA stability and translation efficiency, thereby increasing the protein levels of CDK9. Upregulated CDK9 promotes the progression of HCC by elevating the levels of oncogenic factors including p‐STAT3, MCL1, and BCL‐2. On the other hand, CDK9 phosphorylates TARDBP at Ser254 to activate HBV core

Canagliflozin Alleviates Diabetic Glomerular Endothelial Injury via Melibiose in a Microbiota‐Dependent Manner

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Canagliflozin treatment reshapes the gut microbiota in DKD and elevates levels of melibiose, a metabolite derived from Roseburia intestinalis. Melibiose directly binds to and enhances the enzymatic activity of glyoxalase 1, leading to decreased methylglyoxal accumulation.

Update on Prevention, Diagnosis, and Treatment of Chronic Hepatitis B: AASLD 2018 Hepatitis B Guidance

open access: yesClinical Liver Disease, 2018
This AASLD 2018 Hepatitis B Guidance is intended to complement the AASLD 2016 Practice Guidelines for Treatment of Chronic Hepatitis B and update the previous hepatitis B virus (HBV) guidelines from 2009. The 2018 updated guidance on chronic hepatitis B (
