Hepatitis B Antigen Particles and Prognosis in Hepatitis
New England Journal of Medicine, 1973Prediction about potential chronicity of acute hepatitis, and particularly the form caused by hepatitis virus B associated with a long incubation period, is hazardous.

Hepatitis B Antigen and Prevention of Post-Transfusion Hepatitis B
Vox Sanguinis, 1975Abstract. Screening for hepatitis B antigen (HBsAg) in the serum of blood donors and exclusion of antigenâpositive blood units have reduced the frequency of postâtransfusion hepatitis but several cases of hepatitis B still occur in association with transfusions. One explanation for this is probably that HBsAg is not an indicator of infectivity.

HEPATITIS-B ANTIGEN IN COLONY MOSQUITOES
The Lancet, 1973Abstract Aedes aegypti mosquitoes were fed on or inoculated with blood or serum positive for hepatitis-B antigen (HBAg) or allowed to feed on the arm of an HBAg carrier. Pools of mosquitoes were tested by radioimmunoassay at intervals up to 45 days after exposure to HBAg. HBAg was detected long after the blood itself would have been digested.

The nature of hepatitis B e antigen
Journal of Medical Virology, 1978In recent years, considerable interest has developed in recognizing antigenic specificities additional to the surface antigen in the sera of patients infected with hepatitis B infection. The presence of the e-antigen appears to be invariably associated with ongoing virus replication.

Antibody to hepatitis B core antigen (anti-HBc) is a sensitive indicator of hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection. However, anti-HBc has been found in only a few patients with chronic hepatitis. Therefore, we tested for anti-HBc in 124 sera from 67 patients with histologically proven chronic hepatitis by the indirect fluorescent antibody technique.

Hepatitis B e Antigen and Infectivity of Hepatitis B Virus
Journal of Infectious Diseases, 1977For confirmation of the difference in the infectivity of hepatitis B surface antigen (HBS Ag)-positive serum according to differences in the e antigen system, four chimpanzees were inoculated with serum positive for hepatitis B e antigen (HBe Ag), and three chimpanzees were inoculated with serum positive for antibody to HBe Ag (anti-HBe).

Detection of virus antigens: Hepatitis B antigen
Metabolism, 1973Abstract Hepatitis B virus is the infectious agent that causes hepatitis of the long incubation variety and frequently is transmitted by blood transfusions. Hepatitis B antigen (HB Ag, Australia antigen) is an immunologic marker of hepatitis B virus and is found in serum of patients with acute hepatitis and in chronic carriers.

Hepatitis B surface antigen in late hepatitis B infection
Journal of Medical Virology, 2014Hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) levels are used to evaluate and monitor clinical phases of chronic hepatitis B infection but their clinical significance is unclear in the late complications, cirrhosis of the liver and hepatocellular carcinoma. This study aimed to evaluate HBsAg levels across the whole natural history of hepatitis B virus infection,

The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between hepatitis B e antigen (HBeAg) and hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) levels and liver histology in HBeAg-positive patients with chronic hepatitis B virus (CHB) infection.Serum HBsAg and HBeAg levels were analyzed, and liver biopsies were obtained from 203 HBeAg-positive CHB patients ...
