Abstract Principles of radioimmunoassay are discussed. Methods are outlined for preparing radiolabeled antigenic compounds and characterizing antibodies. The various techniques for separating bound and free antigen are also reviewed. Commercial suppliers of various components needed for radioimmunoassay are listed.

Radioimmunoassay of Triiodothyronine
Immunization of rabbits with triiodothyronine-methyl ester hydrochloride conjugated to bovine serum albumin resulted in the production of antibody against triiodothyronine. Using dextran-coated charcoal technique, a practically useful and specific radioimmimoassay method for triiodothyronine was developed.

Phytochrome Radioimmunoassay [PDF]
A phytochrome radioimmunoassay with a detection limit of about 2 nanograms has been developed. The radioimmunoassay does not suffer from the potential drawbacks of the commonly used spectral assay and requires less than 1 microliter of crude extract from dark-grown plants for quantitation of phytochrome.

Radioimmunoassay of Sisomicin [PDF]
An antibody induced in rabbits against a gentamicin-bovine serum albumin conjugate cross-reacted with the chemically related aminoglycoside, sisomicin, facilitating the development of a sisomicin radioimmunoassay. Sisomicin was labeled with 125 I using an acylating agent [3-(4-hydroxyphenyl)propionic acid-

Radioimmunoassay for calcitonin.
Calcitonin (CT) is one of the most recently discovered calcium-regulating hormones; the first brief allusion to its existence appeared in 1961.1 The first assays for CT were based on its hypocalcemic property upon injection into rats.2,3 Radioimmunoassays for animal calcitonins soon followed, but the availability of sensitive radioimmunoassays for ...

Radioimmunoassay for toxoplasmosis [PDF]
A solid-phase radioimmunoassay for toxoplasmosis has been developed, and the results show good correlation with the indirect hemagglutination test.
