Method Validation and Establishment of Reference Intervals for an Insulin-like Growth Factor-1 Chemiluminescent Immunoassay in Cats

open access: yesVeterinary Sciences, 2023
Previously, radioimmunoassay (RIA) has been the only assay to measure insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) to diagnose hypersomatotropism (HS). Due to radiation concerns, availability, and the cost of IGF-1 RIA, validation of assays for automated ...

Triiodothyronine Radioimmunoassay [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Investigation, 1972
Highly specific antisera to triiodothyronine (T(3)) were prepared by immunization of rabbits with T(3)-bovine serum albumin conjugates. Antisera with T(3) binding capacity of up to 600 ng/ml were obtained. The ability of various thyronine derivatives to inhibit the binding of T(3-) (125)I to anti-T(3) serum was found to vary considerably. l-T(3), d-T(3)

Phytochrome Radioimmunoassay [PDF]

open access: yesPlant Physiology, 1979
A phytochrome radioimmunoassay with a detection limit of about 2 nanograms has been developed. The radioimmunoassay does not suffer from the potential drawbacks of the commonly used spectral assay and requires less than 1 microliter of crude extract from dark-grown plants for quantitation of phytochrome.

Validation of Immunoassays for Total Thyroxine and Free Thyroxine and Age and Sex-Related Variation in Thyroid Hormone Serum Concentrations in Orangutans (Pongo sp.). [PDF]

open access: yesJ Med Primatol
ABSTRACT Background Thyroid disease is reported in orangutans, but to properly diagnose and manage these disorders, reference intervals for circulating thyroid hormones are needed. Methods Commercial immunoassay kits for total thyroxine (TT4) and free thyroxine (FT4) were validated for use in orangutans (Pongo spp.).

Utilization of Polyspecific Antiserum for Specific Radioimmunoassays: Radioimmunoassays for Rat Fetuin and Bikunin Were Developed by Using Antiserum Against Total Rat Serum Proteins [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
Polyspecific antiserum against total rat serum proteins was used to develop specific and sensitive radioimmunoassays for fetuin and bikunin, two minor protein components of rat plasma. The radioimmunoassays proved to be highly useful to trace bikunin and

Determination of progesterone contents in female silkworm (Bombyx mori) moth by radioimmunoassay

open access: yes浙江大学学报. 农业与生命科学版, 2008
Method for determining the contents of progesterone in female silkworm (Bombyx mori) moth was studied. The progesterone could be efficiently extracted out from the female silkworm moth according to following conditions: grinding the female moth powder ...

Hypocretin Levels in Sporadic and Familial Cases of Canine Narcolepsy

open access: yesNeurobiology of Disease, 2001
Familial and sporadic forms of narcolepsy exist in both humans and canines. Mutations in the hypocretin receptor 2 gene (Hcrtr 2) cause canine familial narcolepsy.

Salivary and plasmatic oxytocin are not reliable trait markers of the physiology of the oxytocin system in humans

open access: yeseLife, 2020
Single measurements of salivary and plasmatic oxytocin are used as indicators of the physiology of the oxytocin system. However, questions remain about whether they are sufficiently stable to provide valid trait markers of the physiology of the oxytocin ...
