Induction of cytotoxic T-cell response against hepatitis C virus structural antigens using a defective recombinant adenovirus [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
A replication-defective recombinant adenovirus (RAd), RAdCMV-CE1, containing core and E1 genes of hepatitis C virus (HCV) was constructed. RAdCMV-CE1 was able to express core and E1 proteins both in mice and human cells.

Engineered Small Extracellular Vesicles Targeting Tumor‐Associated Endothelial Cells to Effectively Remodel the Glioma Microenvironment

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study developed a novel drug delivery platform that overcomes the blood‐brain barrier in glioblastoma. By fusing IGFBP7 with small extracellular vesicles, the platform specifically targets tumor vasculature. It effectively delivers temozolomide, suppressing tumor growth at low doses.

The prevalence of transfusion-transmitted infections and nucleic acid testing among blood donors in Majmaah, Saudi Arabia

open access: yesJournal of Infection and Public Health, 2018
Background: Few studies discussed the prevalence of TTIs in Saudi donor blood samples. Thus, this study investigated the prevalence of hepatitis B virus (HBV), hepatitis C virus (HCV), human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), human T-lymphotropic virus (HTLV),

The Exosome‐Associated Tetraspanin CD63 Contributes to the Efficient Assembly and Infectivity of the Hepatitis B Virus

open access: yesHepatology Communications, 2021
Currently, the hepatocellular trafficking pathways that are used by the hepatitis B virus (HBV) during viral infection and shedding are poorly defined. It is known that the HBV uses late endosomal and multivesicular body (MVB) compartments for assembly ...

A new group of hepadnaviruses naturally infecting Orangutans (Pongo pygmaeus) [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
A high prevalence (42.6%) of hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection was suspected in 195 formerly captive orangutans due to a large number of serum samples which cross-reacted with human HBV antigens.

Preferential association of hepatitis C virus with CD19+ B cells is mediated by complement system [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Extrahepatic disease manifestations are common in chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection. The mechanism of HCV-related lymphoproliferative disorders is not fully understood.

Trojan Horse Strategy: How Biomimetic Nanomedicine Remodels the Tumor Microenvironment

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This review focuses on biomimetic nanomedicines for tumor microenvironment (TME) remodeling, covering their diverse biomimetic types, design principles, and mechanisms of immune cell reprogramming and reversal of immunosuppressive microenvironments, with particular emphasis on their application in synergistic immunotherapy.

Designing a therapeutic hepatitis B vaccine to circumvent immune tolerance

open access: yesHuman Vaccines & Immunotherapeutics, 2020
An effective prophylactic hepatitis B virus (HBV) vaccine has long been available but is ineffective for chronic infection. The primary cause of chronic hepatitis B (CHB) and greatest impediment for a therapeutic vaccine is the direct and indirect ...
