Activation and Long‐Term Maintenance of Adaptive Immunity in the Central Nervous System: A Double‐Edged Sword?

open access: yesCNS Neuroscience &Therapeutics, Volume 31, Issue 12, December 2025.
A wide spectrum of cells in the brain can engage in antigen presentation, which activates adaptive immunity in the central nervous system (CNS). Tissue‐resident memory T cells (TRM) develop in adaptive immunity in the CNS and provide long‐term immune surveillance, including the clearance of pathogens and tumor cells.

Innovation in Green Extraction of Essential Oils From Medicinal Aromatic Plants and Their Nano‐Formulation With Potential Anti‐Respiratory Viruses Activities

open access: yeseFood, Volume 6, Issue 6, December 2025.
Essential oils (EOs) from peppermint, thyme, eucalyptus, and lemongrass were extracted and characterized by GC‐MS, then combined and nano‐formulated. All extracts showed antiviral activity, with the nano‐mixture exhibiting the strongest effect against influenza A and SARS‐CoV‐2.

Functional Antigen‐Specific CD8 TSCM Responses Are Associated with Repeated Clearance of Hepatitis C Virus Infection

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Immunology, Volume 55, Issue 12, December 2025.
HCV re‐infection is common after spontaneous clearance of the initial infection. In the rare group of super‐clearers who clear repeatedly, HCV‐specific CD8+ T memory stem cells (TSCM) retain stemness, proliferation, and multipotency, sustaining immune protection. In contrast, clearer chronics lose these properties.

IL‐10‐ and IL‐13‐Biased T Cell Responses to SARS‐CoV‐2 Vaccination in Diabetes

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Immunology, Volume 55, Issue 12, December 2025.
How the immune system of people with diabetes responds to vaccination against respiratory viruses is not well understood. Using activation‐induced markers to identify, quantify, and functionally characterize Spike‐specific CD4+ and CD8+ T cells after SARS‐CoV‐2 vaccination, we show defects in T cell memory maintenance and an IL‐10 and IL‐13‐dominated T

Dynamical Modelling and Optimal Control of Conjunctivitis Epidemic

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 7, Issue 12, December 2025.
Conjunctivitis disease was modelled using a deterministic modelling approach, with the dynamics presented by the compartments in the flowchart. The results showed that intervention D is the best cost‐effectiveness policy. ABSTRACT In this study, we develop a mathematical model for conjunctivitis transmission dynamics.
