Hepatitis B virus taxonomy and hepatitis B virus genotypes [PDF]
Hepatitis B virus (HBV) is a member of the hepadnavirus family. Hepadnaviruses can be found in both mammals (orthohepadnaviruses) and birds (avihepadnaviruses). The genetic variability of HBV is very high. There are eight genotypes of HBV and three clades of HBV isolates from apes that appear to be additional genotypes of HBV.

Correlation between hepatitis B G1896A precore mutations and HBeAg in chronic HBV patients [PDF]
Background: Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection is an important health concern worldwide, with critical outcomes. Hepatitis B e antigen (HBeAg) negative chronic hepatitis B is frequently caused by a mutation (G1896A) in the hepatitis B virus (HBV) precore (

During hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection, selection and takeover of mutant viruses are frequent events driven by both humoral and cellular host-immune response and antiviral therapy. Therefore, dynamic studies of the variations of viral mutants over time within the overall viral population in relation with the host-virus interactions are extremely ...

Drug-related mutational patterns in hepatitis B virus (HBV) reverse transcriptase proteins from Iranian treatment-Naïve chronic HBV patients [PDF]
Background: Immunomodulators and Nucleotide analogues have been used globally for the dealing of chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection. However, the development of drug resistance is a major limitation to their long-term effectiveness.

The prevalence of occult hepatitis B virus (hbv) infection in a large multi-ethnic haemodialysis cohort. [PDF]
Haemodialysis patients are at increased risk of exposure to blood borne viruses. To reduce transmission in the UK, all haemodialysis patients are regularly screened, and if susceptible to Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection ...
