Influence of hepatitis G virus infection on liver disease [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The influence of hepatitis G virus (HGV) infection on disease activity in hepatitis C related and unrelated liver disease was investigated in 254 individuals using an EIA polymerase chain reaction assay for HGV. One hundred patients had chronic hepatitis

Hepatocyte BPGM Induces RET Lactylation and Macrophage Reprogramming to Promote Tumorigenesis in Hepatocellular Carcinoma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Mechanistic schematic diagram.BPGM promotes the expression level of RET by increasing the lactylation of RET‐K549 and inhibiting its ubiquitination levels in HCC cells. Furthermore, BPGM in HCC cells could also promote M2 polarization in macrophages through lactate secretion. Both of the mechanisms could promote the progression of HCC. ABSTRACT Aerobic

Engineered Small Extracellular Vesicles Targeting Tumor‐Associated Endothelial Cells to Effectively Remodel the Glioma Microenvironment

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study developed a novel drug delivery platform that overcomes the blood‐brain barrier in glioblastoma. By fusing IGFBP7 with small extracellular vesicles, the platform specifically targets tumor vasculature. It effectively delivers temozolomide, suppressing tumor growth at low doses.

The effects of low-dose IL-2 on Th17/Treg cell imbalance in primary biliary cholangitis mouse models

open access: yesBMC Gastroenterology
Background/aims Primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) is a chronic cholestatic liver disease. The imbalance of Th17/Treg cells has been reported in PBC patients. Low-dose IL-2 can alleviate disease severity through modulating CD4 + T cell subsets in patients

Liver Stiffness Rises Early in MASLD and Drives Inflammation, Lipid Dysmetabolism, and Fibrosis via Piezo1–YAP Mechanotransduction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Progressive stiffening of the hepatic extracellular matrix and free fatty acid overload activate the mechanosensor Piezo1 in steatotic hepatocytes, inducing calcium influx and nuclear translocation of Yes‐associated protein. YAP‐dependent nuclear signaling further drives inflammatory and fibrotic gene programs, lipid metabolic reprogramming, and ...

Trojan Horse Strategy: How Biomimetic Nanomedicine Remodels the Tumor Microenvironment

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This review focuses on biomimetic nanomedicines for tumor microenvironment (TME) remodeling, covering their diverse biomimetic types, design principles, and mechanisms of immune cell reprogramming and reversal of immunosuppressive microenvironments, with particular emphasis on their application in synergistic immunotherapy.

GSDMD induces hepatocyte pyroptosis to trigger alcoholic hepatitis through modulating mitochondrial dysfunction

open access: yesCell Division
Background Mechanisms and consequences of Gasdermin D (GSDMD) activation in alcoholic hepatitis (AH) are unclear. In the present study, we investigated whether GSDMD induces hepatocyte pyroptosis by regulating mitochondrial dysfunction in AH.
