The peroxisomes of the hepatopancreas in two species of chitons
Cell and Tissue Research, 1997. This paper presents the first description of peroxisomes in polyplacophorans. As in other molluscs, the hepatopancreas of chitons is composed of basophilic and digestive cells. In the basophilic cells, the endoplasmic reticulum is abundant and several Golgi stacks can be observed.

Functional cytology of the hepatopancreas of decapod crustaceans
Journal of Morphology, 2019AbstractThis article reviews the morphogenesis, morphology, histology, ultrastructure, and structural–functional relationships of the hepatopancreas, the main metabolic organ of the Decapoda. The hepatopancreas develops in early larval stages from a pair of lateral lobes of the midgut anlage. In adults, it consists of hundreds of blindly ending tubules

Intercellular junctions in the hepatopancreas of the lobster Nephrops norvegicus
Biology of the Cell, 1985The hepatopancreas of the lobster has recently been found to be a rich source of material from which to isolate arthopod gap junctions biochemically (Finbow et al., 1983a; 1984). It has therefore been studied here to assess the features of these intercellular junctions and any others that may be present, in vivo.

The regulation of pyruvate kinase in the hepatopancreas of Carcinus maenas)
Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part B: Comparative Biochemistry, 1976Abstract 1. 1. Estimation of the activity of pyruvate kinase and pyruvate carboxylase in the hepatopancreas of Carcinus maenas gave values of 28.5 and 7.4 units/g wet wt tissue respectively. 2. 2. The concentrations of substrates, products and allosteric effectors of these enzymes in hepatopancreas were measured. 3. 3. The activities of

Purine phosphoribosyltransferases in the hepatopancreas of Helix pomatia (Gastropoda)
Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part B: Comparative Biochemistry, 1975Abstract 1. 1. In hepatopancreas of a purinotelic snail, Helix pomatia, hypoxanthine-guanine phosphoribosyltransferase and adenine phosphoribosyltransferase were found; high activity towards xanthine was also present. 2. 2. The two enzymes differ considerably in their stability, optimal pH and temperature and in their inhibition by ...

A study of growth and cell differentiation in the hepatopancreas of the crayfish
Developmental Biology, 1964Abstract The histology of the crayfish hepatopancreas has been presented. Also, cell types within the tubule have been distinguished on a histochemical basis. Labeling studies employing tritiated thymidine and uridine have been carried out. There is strong evidence that all the cells in the tubules of the digestive gland arise from embryonic cells ...

Cytopathology and immune response in the hepatopancreas of decapod crustaceans
Diseases of Aquatic Organisms, 2020The hepatopancreas of decapod crustaceans is used as an example to illustrate the range of cytopathologies, detoxification mechanisms, and immune responses that environmental toxicants and pathogens can induce in a single organ. The hepatopancreas is the central metabolic organ of decapods and consists of hundreds of blindly-ending tubules and ...

Biologically active peptides of king crab hepatopancreas
Applied Biochemistry and Microbiology, 2015Substances of a peptide nature isolated from the hepatopancreas of the king crab Paralithodes camtschaticus exhibited physicochemical properties and membranotropic and specific activities similar to those of membranotropic homeostatic tissue-specific bioregulators previously found in different mammalian and plant tissues.

The Gut, Hepatopancreas and Digestion
1993The isopodan alimentary canal consists of a straight tube and two pairs of digestive glands or hepatopancreas on each side. The subject received attention in early research (see McMurrich 1898; Schonichen 1899; Murlin 1902 for early literature). Later, studies by Schmitz and Schultz (1969), Alikhan (1968, 1969a, 1971) and Hassall and Jennings (1975 ...

Glycosidase activities of the hepatopancreas of the ascidian Pyura stolonifera
Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part B: Comparative Biochemistry, 1972Abstract 1. 1. Extracts of the hepatopancreas of the tunicate Pyura stolonifera contained a wide range of polysaccharidase activities and also hydrolysed a variety of aryl glycosides. 2. 2. Further kinetic studies indicated that the anomeric glycosides of d -glucoronic acid and of N-acetyl- d glucosamine were hydrolysed by different enzymes.
