Impact of Plant-Based Diets on Hepatosomatic Index, Circulating Globulins and Growth in Rainbow Trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss)

open access: yesFishes
Serum proteins are essential for maintaining osmotic pressure, regulating pH, transporting metabolites, and supporting immune responses. Studying the effects of plant-based diets on these proteins is crucial to understanding their impact on fish health and immune function.

Biliary PAH metabolites and the hepatosomatic index of brown bullheads from Lake Erie tributaries

open access: yesEcological Indicators, 2006
Abstract In studies designed to investigate the environmental exposure of fish in Lake Erie tributaries, a benthic fish, the brown bullhead ( Ameiurus nebulosus ), was collected from the industrially contaminated Detroit River, Ottawa River, Black River, Cuyahoga River-harbor and -upstream, Ashtabula River, Buffalo River, and Niagara River, and the ...

On the Hepatosomatic Index of Holocephalian Fish

open access: yesNIPPON SUISAN GAKKAISHI, 1978
The hepatosomatic index (liver weight/body weight×100, HSI) of holocephalian fish was examined, using two species, ratfish, Hydrolagus colliei, and rabbitfish, Chimaera monstrosa. Compared with HSI in teleostean fishes, the index was remarkably high in these holocephalian fishes. It was 16.96±0.66% in ratfish (14 specimens, body weight: 360-1405 g). In

According to the Hepatosomatic Index and Gonadosomatic Index

open access: yes‬‭Majallah-i ̒Ilmī-i Shīlāt-i Īrān, 1997
The ribbon fishes, belonging to the family Trichiuridae, are one of the most important protein resources in the Indian Ocean. A considerable density of the dominant species of this family, Trichiurus lepturus has been observed in the Oman Sea. During the

Seasonal changes in hepatosomatic index, gonadosomatic index and plasma estradiol‐17β level in captively reared female rabbit fish ( Siganus guttatus )

open access: yesAquaculture Research, 2019
The seasonal changes in hepatosomatic index (HSI), gonadosomatic index (GSI) and plasma estradiol‐17β (E₂) level in female rabbit fish (Siganus guttatus) were investigated. The relationship between plasma E₂ levels with these indices and ovarian growth was also evaluated.

Changes in hepatosomatic index and histoarchitecture of liver in common carp exposed to organophosphate insecticide sumithion

open access: yesAsian Journal of Medical and Biological Research, 2016
Sumithion is widely used in larval rearing aquaculture ponds to control aquatic insects. This experiment was carried out to evaluate the effect of sumithion on hepatosomatic index and liver morphology in common carp, Cyprinus carpio. Acute toxicity of sumithion (96 h LC50 value) was first determined and it was 8.05 ppm for common carp.
