Biodegradation of heptachlor and heptachlor epoxide-contaminated soils by white-rot fungal inocula
The ability of certain white-rot fungi (WRF) inocula to transform heptachlor and heptachlor epoxide and its application in artificially contaminated soil were investigated. Fungal inoculum of Pleurotus ostreatus eliminated approximately 89 % of heptachlor after 28 days of incubation, and chlordene was detected as the primary metabolite.

PHYTOREMEDIATION OF HEPTACHLOR AND HEPTACHLOR EPOXIDE IN SOIL BY CUCURBITACEAE
Plants in the family of Cucurbitaceae family are known to up take organochlorines. This study was designed to screen seven cultivars of the Lagenaria siceraria species of the Cucurbitaceae family to determine their capacity to remediate heptachlor- and heptachlor epoxide-contaminated soil.

Genotoxicity of heptachlor and heptachlor epoxide in human TK6 lymphoblastoid cells
The genotoxic potential of the organochlorine insecticides heptachlor (HC) and its metabolite heptachlor epoxide (HCE) has been evaluated in TK6 cells, a well-established human lymphoblastoid cell line. Genotoxicity has been determined by scoring the induction of DNA breaks in the comet assay and by measuring the frequency of micronuclei (MN) in ...

Histopathology of Carcinomas of the Liver in Mice Ingesting Heptachlor or Heptachlor Epoxide
C3H male and female mice, ingesting 10 ppm of the pesticides heptachlor or heptachlor epoxide in the diet, developed highly significant incidences of carcinomas of the liver. The carcinomas varied from well-differentiated to poorly differentiated and undifferentiated and were capable of invasion and metastasis.

Biotransformation of heptachlor and heptachlor epoxide by white-rot fungus Pleurotus ostreatus
Abstract The ability of Pleurotus ostreatus to transform heptachlor as well as heptachlor epoxide was investigated. Heptachlor was eliminated completely by this fungus in potato dextrose broth (PDB) and high nitrogen (HN) media during a 14 d incubation period.
